Long Lake Fire covers the areas of Long Lake, Orono, and part of Medina and Lake Minnetonka out of two stations. One station located in Long Lake and the other in Navarre (Orono). We are looking for compassionate volunteers to help in the care of our animals. Responsibilities include observing the well-being of the animals, cleaning stalls, refreshing water bowls, and maintaining the cleanliness of the sanctuary. Volunteers must be comfortable with physical tasks such as bending, scooping, and lifting hay bales.

Volunteers are needed to help with weeding, landscaping, and planting in the memorial gardens. Your efforts will help maintain a peaceful and beautiful environment for families to remember their loved ones.

Our dogs would love to find you! We are often in need of strangers to 'get lost' for our K9 Teams. Training locations are outdoors, and you must be dressed for the weather conditions and wear shoes you can walk in. You should be able to walk a minimum of ½ mile, and be prepared to wait at the end of the trail for anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours.

Help sort and organize clothing donations for distribution to those in need. Volunteers assist in maintaining the clothing area and ensuring items are ready for clients.

Respond to all service calls including ... fire events (structure and wildland), auto incidents, hazardous material events, emergency medical services. | Requirements: Over 18 years of age and either work or live near the fire service area (Medina, MN). Commitment to the time required for core training courses (Firefighter I and II, Hazmat and First Responder) in the first 12 months of service, equating to approximately 160 hrs. Capable of attending at least 25% of all department dispatches in a twelve month period (department call volume is 180-200 annually). Ambassadors represent Firefly Sisterhood at community outreach events such as health fairs and Lunch & Learns. Responsibilities include tabling at events, public speaking, or serving on an event committee.

Guest Speakers share their expertise in subjects related to breast cancer, leading discussions and teaching at events. They may conduct Q&A sessions or formal presentations.

Healthcare Liaisons build relationships within the breast cancer community, ensuring healthcare providers are aware of Firefly Sisterhood’s support services and benefits for patients.

Support the after-school program by assisting with student activities and providing help with homework. Volunteers will work closely with students to enhance their learning experience.
