What if you called to report a fire or other emergency and no one answered the call? Did you know that 80% of the country's fire service is volunteer? The Louisa Fire Department is in desperate need of men and women who are willing to join our department. These men and women come from all walks of life, but all have one thing in common – at a moment's notice, they put their lives on the line for their community. Our members include truck drivers, mechanics, coal miners, safety and medical professionals, police officers, and students. If you have the desire to serve your community and you meet our requirements, GEAR UP WE HAVE ROOM FOR YOU. The department is strictly volunteer (NO PAY, including Chief). No experience is necessary. Training and equipment will be provided free of charge to you and can lead to other job opportunities. We will be taking anyone 15+. Come join us Monday nights, 6:30pm, at Fire Station 1 (by city hall/Giovanni’s) Fire Station 2 (beside the LC bus garage) and help serve our community and protect the lives and properties of the citizens of Louisa and Lawrence County. | Requirements: (1) Able to read, write, and understand the English language based on educational attainment or experience. (2) Not in violation, and has not been in violation within the last five (5) years, of driving under the influence or public intoxication. (3) Not convicted of a felony offense; (4) A citizen of the United States, a permanent resident of the United States, or otherwise lawfully present in the United States, as evidenced by submission to the Kentucky Fire Commission of a driver's license, birth certificate, a United States Permanent Resident Card (form I-551), or other legal authorization to live and work in the United States; and (5) Eighteen (18) years of age or older, as evidenced by submission to the Kentucky Fire Commission of proof of age in the form of a driver's license, birth certificate, or other government-issued identification card. Junior Firefighter Program: • Shall be a high school graduate or equivalent; or • Shall be enrolled in public, private, or home school in good standing and who meet the attendance regulations as set forth by federal, state, or local authorities; • Must maintain a course grade average or the equivalent of the letter “C” in all courses of study; and • Are prohibited from participating in any fire department activities during regular school hours unless authorized by their educational institution and fire department | Categories: Junior Members, Department Support, Community Education, Firefighter
