About the Department The Harrison Hills Fire Company, Station 169, is apart of the Harrison Township Fire & Emergency Services department. The Harrison Township Fire & Emergency Services department received a Class 3 rating from the Insurance Services Office (ISO) in 2022. The HTFES department is an all-hazards fire and rescue department providing basic Aide (BLS), fire suppression, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, water rescue, life safety education and fire prevention services. The HTFES department operates 3 engines, 2 Rescues, 1 Ladder, and a variety of support and command vehicles. The department responds to surrounding communities and Counties such as Fawn Township, Brackenridge and Tarentum Borough, Armstrong County, Westmoreland County, and Butler County. Additionally, the department operates closely with DCNR [Department of Conservation and Natural Resources] and responds to brush and wildland fires. Duties Include: • Responds to emergency calls to protect life and property • Combats, extinguishes, and prevents fires • Participates in rescue extrication operations and provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured • Drives emergency apparatus, including, but not limited to transport units, engines, trucks, rescue squads, and tankers • Conducts patient assessment • Performs related work as required under direct supervision • Participates in Community Risk Reduction and community outreach activities; and • Works as part of a team and embodies the HTFES department’s Core Values. | Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: High school graduation or possession of a GED issued by a state department of education or in-progress GED Completion for members under the age of 18. The LVFC has been staffed over the years by dedicated men and women who are integral part of the community. The LVFC welcomes you to be part of the transition age as the community re-gentrification takes hold with millennials taking the place of baby boomers and baby boomers moving into the roles held by the greatest generation. The community of Leechburg is evolving with an increasing number of younger residents with growing families moving into town and we want you to be part of the community. The members of the LVFC recognize and welcome the changing demographic and new faces to our community. We as an organization are making commitments to the community to embrace continuing change to provide the town with trained and well equipped emergency responders. The role of the volunteer fire fighter in the community is multi faceted as such we need members with multiple different skill sets to assist with administrative and business management of the non profit corporation which governs the LVFC and is also responsible for providing the financial resources for the needs of the fire fighting side of the organization. The LVFC is committed to community partnerships with the local municipality, school district, neighboring fire companies and other local community service groups as shown by our joint efforts in emergency response, community events, educational initiatives and fund raising for the LVFC and other community groups. Not only does being a member of the LVFC enable you to be a part of a community service organization it also permits you to save you and your neighbors hundreds thousands of dollars per year of tax dollars as the cost of a borough funded paid department would be in excess of $950, 000.00 per year according to numbers provided by NVFC. The Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company is committed to the future of the community and we want you to be a part of it and are tailoring our programs to meet the needs and of the growing and changing population and its ability to be a community volunteer.
