Butte Valley Fire Prot Dist
BVFPD is seeking applicants who live in the area of MacDoel and Mount Hebron to serve as Volunteer Emergency Responders, Volunteer Structural Firefighters, or Volunteer Wildland Firefighters. You DO NOT have to be a firefighter to serve your community. We are also working to develop our ambulance crews in collaboration with Butte Valley Ambulance. We provide all training at no cost to you. Training is conducted via an online platform and includes one two-hour session per month (Third Tuesday, 6-8 PM PST) and one additional drill night to be announced. Some of the training is conducted online at your own pace. We are a family-oriented organization with an elected Board of Directors and volunteer staff. Our training is conducted as part of a Regional Training Program, which includes the Butte Valley Fire Protection District (Butte Valley FPD), Butte Valley Ambulance, City of Dorris Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), Gazelle Fire Protection District (Gazelle FPD), and College of the Siskiyous. We hold several other formal training sessions per year hosted by the College of The Siskiyous. Our department pays for significant wildfire responses under the California State Mutual Aid plan, at a predetermined hourly rate as regulated by CALFIRE and CAL OES. This is not typical of our responses, however we do get occaisional requests. If you are certified as a Wildland Firefighter (FFT2), (FFT1), or Engine Boss (EMGB) we could work with you to obtain fire assignments. | Requirements: No training necessary and you are not required to serve as a firefighter.
