Play a key role in reaching caregivers and reducing cat overpopulation in high-need areas by helping connect with local residents to provide spay/neuter resources and support for the cats in their care. This involves going door-to-door in pre-selected neighborhoods to identify residents in need of services and provide education about cat care.

Assist with safely transporting cats to and from spay/neuter appointments by picking up cats from caregivers, delivering them to the transport location, and returning them to their caregivers after the procedure. Requires a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Help manage the HHC booth at outreach events such as the Hoosier Outdoor Experience. Engage with the public and promote the organization's mission.

Manage a 1-3 mile section of trail by walking it quarterly to prune brush, clear obstacles, remove debris, and report trail conditions. Training and evaluation forms are provided.

Participate in trail building and maintenance events every 3rd Saturday of each month. No experience or tools are needed as training and tools are provided.

Join the SPEAK group to write letters to local and state newspapers and legislators in support of public education. This involves advocating against bills that reduce funding or services to public schools.

Help build out content for the ICPE website by writing and researching stories and projects that keep the community informed about public education issues.

Offer specific assistance such as providing rides in a schedule of needed rides, donating needed items, or helping with clothing drives. Volunteers can specify their preferences in the Volunteer Interest Form.

Join RSN as an individual or group to share experiences and resources. Your input amplifies our hands-on advocacy and helps transform the community.

Assist in setting up and welcoming attendees at ICPE events. Responsibilities include bringing bottled water for speakers and managing the sign-in sheet. This is a low commitment opportunity.

Befriend an immigrant family to help orient them to the community. Responsibilities may include providing transportation to important appointments, helping them move to a better apartment, meeting for English language conversation, and assisting them in navigating medical, banking, and educational systems.

Speak at the statehouse on education legislation. ICPE provides guidance for those passionate about education policy to effectively communicate their views.

Write and submit letters to the editor of local newspapers expressing views on education legislation. ICPE assists with the submission process.

Attend public school board meetings at RBBCSC and MCCSC, as well as charter schools SOCS and TPS, to help ICPE stay informed and engaged with local education issues. Meeting times are listed in the monthly Five Things newsletters.

Provide focused expertise to immigrants and volunteers assisting immigrants. Be a resource of information about housing, Indiana FSSA, insurance, job searching, English as a New Language (ENL), counseling, the school system, and driver’s education.
