If so we may have a place for you at the Oak Grove Fire Department. As an Oak Grove firefighter you will receive: - Opportunities for in house and off site training - Necessary turnout gear, helmets, and gloves for fire ground operations (as available) - Radio pager (as available) - eDispatch and text messaging alerts for all paged emergencies on your smart phone - Portable radio (as available) | Requirements: As an Oak Grove firefighter you will have the opportunity for lots of training to further your skills and education as a firefighter. Many of these skills will be taught in-house however there will be some offered off-site at other departments. As an entry-level probationary firefighter you will be required to complete these minimum classes within your probationary period: - Introduction to Firefighting (8 hours) - PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) (8 hours) - Wildland Firefighting (8 hours) - CPR & First Aid - Online FEMA ICS Modules 100, 200, 700, and 800. (3 hours per module) These are the minimum educational requirements to complete your 6 month probationary period with the department. However this education is just the beginning. All firefighters will be strongly encouraged to continue their education and complete their Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certifications. As a Probationary VFF you will be expected to respond to 50% of all paged emergencies and meet all training meetings. Our training nights are every other Thursday and start at 1830 and usually last a few hours. You will also be expected to complete your probationary firefighter JPR sheet which consists of skills and tasks that all OGFD members are expected to perform. At the conclusion of your six month probationary period all members will vote on whether to make you a full member at the next training meeting following the conclusion of your six months with the department. | Categories: Firefighter, EMT
Mayflower Vol Fire Dept
The City of Mayflower Fire/Rescue Department is seeking volunteers for our busy fire department. Our department is averaging nearly 1,000 calls for service a year in the largest Fire District in Faulkner County and we need your help to answer those calls. We are looking for apparatus drivers, interior/exterior firefighters, mechanics, and emergency medical responders. We have a place for anyone that is willing to donate their time and/or expertise and in helping our community and neighbors. We will provide all training and gear needed to get you started. Once on board with the department the opportunities for additional training are limitless (and free of charge) as we can host classes in house or send you to other agencies for more advanced training through the Arkansas Fire Academy. We regularly meet for training the first and third Monday from 630p-9p and the second Saturday morning each month. We respond to all emergencies that come through 911. No prior training or experience is necessary. Work involves training for and participating in duties of protecting life and property through the performance of firefighting and emergency medical service activities. Volunteer Firefighters are required to learn and participate in the operation of apparatus and the performance of hazardous task under emergency conditions which may require strenuous exertion under such handicaps as smoke, fire, heat and cramped surroundings. Although firefighting and emergency medical services work constitutes the primary and most difficult and responsible areas of work, the volunteer is also required to drill at least twice a month for two hours. These drills consist of practice sessions dealing with various aspects of firefighting, rescue, hazardous materials awareness, and emergency medical work. Time spent at the station may consist of studying, custodial care and a wide variety of maintenance of departmental facilities, apparatus and equipment. Work is usually performed in accordance with explicit instructions and well defined procedures, however, performance of the work requires initiative and the exercise of independent judgment.
