If so we may have a place for you at the Maynardville Fire Department. | Requirements: As a Maynardville firefighter you will receive: - Opportunities for in house and off-site training - Reduced vehicle registration and tags - Necessary turnout gear, helmets, and gloves for fire ground operations (as available) - Uniforms - text messaging alerts for all paged emergencies on your smart phone - Portable radio (as available) - Training stipend up to $600 a year, for meeting minimum training requirements Preliminary Requirements -Live in the Union County area -Have a valid driver's license -Have no felony convictions -Have a desire to help those in your community Training Requirements As an Maynardville firefighter you will have the opportunity for lots of training to further your skills and education as a firefighter. Many of these skills will be taught in-house however there will be some offered off-site at other departments and training sites across the country. As an entry-level probationary firefighter you will be required to complete these minimum classes within your probationary period: - Introduction to Firefighting (16 hours) - Basic Firefighter (64 hours) - Firefighter I Live Burn (16 Hours) - CPR, First Aid, Domestic Violence awareness - Online FEMA ICS Modules 100, 200, 700, and 800. (3 hours per module) These are the minimum educational requirements to complete your twelve (12) month probationary period with the department. However, this education is just the beginning. All firefighters will be strongly encouraged to continue their education and complete their Tennessee Commission Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and obtain Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certifications. Expectations As a Probationary VFF you will be expected to respond to 50% of all paged emergencies and meet all training meetings. Our training nights are the Second and Third Thursday of the month and start at 1900 and usually last a couple of hours. You will also be expected to complete your probationary firefighter JPR sheet which consists of skills and tasks that all MFD members are expected to perform. At the conclusion of your twelve month probationary period the chief will decide on whether to make you a full member at the next training meeting following the conclusion of your twelve months with the department. Facilitate the Youth Leadership Union County program by guiding young participants through leadership development activities and community engagement projects. Volunteers will work closely with youth to inspire and educate them about community leadership.

Assist with building and organizing projects on the property, including building rails, organizing rooms, and assembling structures. Volunteers will help maintain and improve the facilities used for Faith N Friends programs.

Participate in feeding horses twice daily, 365 days a year, as part of a team or family unit. Volunteers are trained and can commit to morning or evening shifts on one or more days a week.

Assist in organizing and planning events for Faith N Friends, including meetings, tracking progress, and managing social media needs. Volunteers will work collaboratively to ensure successful event execution.

Assist with transporting horses to various events and activities. Volunteers can receive training to ensure safe and efficient trailering practices.

Help plan, organize, and participate in summer camps for children, including those with special needs. Volunteers can choose to participate in one or all of the 3-day camps, assisting with various camp activities.

Maintain pastures by bush hogging and putting out hay for horses. Volunteers work on a monthly schedule during spring and summer to ensure the horses' environment is well-kept.

Clean and maintain donated tack items, ensuring they are ready for use. Volunteers will log their hours and tasks, working at their own pace but on a monthly schedule.

Assist with curriculum development and mentor teens aged 10-21. Volunteers may attend overnight retreats and help transport teens to horse shows, requiring experience in handling horses.

Research and write grants to support Faith N Friends. Volunteers need strong writing and research skills to create compelling grant applications and track their progress.

Volunteer as a dog walker to help provide exercise and companionship for our rescue dogs. This role involves walking dogs around the lodge and ensuring they have a fun and safe experience.

Help maintain a clean and hygienic environment for our rescue dogs by cleaning kennels and common areas. This role is crucial for the health and well-being of the animals.

Serve as an Adoption Ambassador to help promote our adoptable dogs and facilitate successful adoptions. This role involves engaging with potential adopters and providing information about the dogs.

Assist in training rescue dogs to improve their behavior and increase their chances of adoption. Volunteers will work with dogs on basic commands and socialization.

Participate in our Doggy Day Out program by taking dogs on day trips to provide them with a change of scenery and socialization opportunities. Volunteers will be responsible for the safety and enjoyment of the dogs during outings.

Support the annual Hogskin History Day celebration by contributing to event setup, managing activities, and assisting with logistics. Volunteers can also bake goods for the Cake Walk or participate in sustainability booths.

Assist with organic gardening tasks, including planting, weeding, and harvesting, to support Narrow Ridge's sustainability mission. Volunteers can work solo or in groups and contribute to the community's food production efforts.
