The City of Mebane is seeking members of the community interested in becoming a Volunteer Firefighter. These Volunteers will serve alongside the Department's other Volunteer and Career Firefighters protecting the citizens of the City of Mebane and surrounding Fire District our of one of the Department's three stations. These firefighters would be on-call and respond to calls for service as needed. Volunteers will be required to attend training offered by the Department, as well as occasional classes offered outside the Department. | Requirements: Volunteers must meet the following requirements: • Be at least 18 years of age; • Be in good physical condition; • Live inside the Mebane Fire District and be able to respond to one of the Department's three stations; • Possess a high school diploma or GED; • Pass a drug test; • Pass a criminal background check; Once accepted to become a Probationary Member of the Department, your training and participation will begin. Your Probationary status will last for a period of twelve (12) months from the date you’re accepted. During this period, you’ll be expected to attend business meetings (held once per month), training exercises (held 3-5 times per month) and respond to necessary calls for service as required by Probationary Members. You'll also be expected to obtain your Hazard Materials Awareness and Operations level certificates and begin taking classes towards obtaining your Firefighter Certification. | Categories: Firefighter
