The City of Mebane is seeking members of the community interested in becoming a Volunteer Firefighter. These Volunteers will serve alongside the Department's other Volunteer and Career Firefighters protecting the citizens of the City of Mebane and surrounding Fire District our of one of the Department's three stations. These firefighters would be on-call and respond to calls for service as needed. Volunteers will be required to attend training offered by the Department, as well as occasional classes offered outside the Department. | Requirements: Volunteers must meet the following requirements: • Be at least 18 years of age; • Be in good physical condition; • Live inside the Mebane Fire District and be able to respond to one of the Department's three stations; • Possess a high school diploma or GED; • Pass a drug test; • Pass a criminal background check; Once accepted to become a Probationary Member of the Department, your training and participation will begin. Your Probationary status will last for a period of twelve (12) months from the date you’re accepted. During this period, you’ll be expected to attend business meetings (held once per month), training exercises (held 3-5 times per month) and respond to necessary calls for service as required by Probationary Members. You'll also be expected to obtain your Hazard Materials Awareness and Operations level certificates and begin taking classes towards obtaining your Firefighter Certification. | Categories: Firefighter

Assist the Diaper Bank of NC by picking up donations from various Hot Spots around town once or twice a month. Volunteers will help collect and transport donations to the main distribution center.

Join the Diaper Bank of NC for a mobile distribution in Durham or New Hanover County, helping to distribute essential products to families in need. Volunteers will assist in the distribution process, ensuring equitable access to supplies.

Organize a donation drive to collect essential items such as diapers, baby wipes, and hygiene supplies. Volunteers can host drives in various locations and promote the event to maximize impact.

Volunteers will organize, merchandise, and price products at The Salvage Shop. They will also serve as sales staff during sale events and private appointments, and assist in developing an online sales platform to increase sales volume.

Volunteers will assist in the physical removal of salvaged materials from properties in peril or pending demolition. They will also coordinate donation pickups and increase connections with contractors and salvage groups.

Assist the administrative team with data input, organizing materials, stuffing mailers, and paperwork. Spanish speakers are especially needed for translating documents and conversations.

Support Teaching Artists and students during classes and performances. Volunteers may supervise students, help tune instruments, and lead breakout groups if they are trained musicians.

Fundraising Volunteers participate in the Annual Giving Campaign and other fundraising events, helping to secure financial support for the YMCA's programs and initiatives.

Program Volunteers engage directly with YMCA members and the community, assisting in the delivery of various programs and services. They help facilitate activities and support participants.

Policy Volunteers serve on YMCA boards and committees, helping to shape the policies and direction of the organization. They play a crucial role in governance and strategic planning.

Assist in creating and maintaining butterfly-friendly habitats. Volunteers will help with planting, maintaining, and educating the community about the importance of butterfly habitats.

Assist in organizing and managing the Last Fridays & the Art Walk events, which include live music, dance, poetry, and gallery exhibitions. Volunteers help with event setup, coordination, and providing information to attendees.

Support the operation of the HAC Gallery & Gift Shop by assisting with light retail tasks. Volunteers will receive training in retail operations and help with customer service and shop maintenance.

Participate in organizing the Solstice Lantern Walk, a community event featuring a lantern procession along Hillsborough's Riverwalk. Volunteers assist with event preparation, guiding participants, and ensuring a smooth procession.

Provide assistance with various manual labor tasks to support the organization's events and programs. This may include setting up event spaces, organizing materials, and other physical tasks as needed.

Participate in planning and executing fundraising events to support the organization's mission. Volunteers will work in teams to develop strategies and engage with the community to secure donations.

Volunteers will publicize the grant program, guide applicants through the process, evaluate applications, and notify awardees. They will also ensure project requirements are met and manage reimbursement contracts.

Assist in organizing and participating in community outreach programs to support children and youth in foster care. Volunteers will help raise awareness and gather resources for the organization's initiatives.
