Assist with packing food boxes and sorting grocery items for food assistance programs. Volunteers may also help with general warehouse cleaning and organizing needs during these shifts.

Assist with the setup and distribution of food during our weekly Mobile Market distributions. Mobile Markets take place outdoors, Monday through Saturday, in Lake & Porter Counties.

Deliver groceries to seniors who need your help. Volunteers will pick up groceries at the Food Bank and deliver them to seniors, helping to brighten their day.

The Lake Ridge Volunteer Fire Department is currently seeking individuals in our district who are dedicated and hard-working and would like to join us in serving our community. Volunteer firefighters are local heroes who help their neighbors, save lives and earn respect every time they work. No prior experience is required; all training will be provided. Join our growing community of dedicated volunteers that serve the Crown Point population. Volunteers help create impactful play experiences for children and families through donated time and talents. All volunteer candidates are subject to background checks, and we welcome groups.

Bereavement support volunteers assist with activities and events for families following the loss of their loved ones, including memorial events and support group meetings. Specialized training is provided.

Office Volunteers assist with clerical tasks such as copying, filing, and preparing mailings at the main reception desk. Scheduling is flexible during normal business hours based on availability.

Pet Therapy Volunteers bring licensed therapy dogs to visit hospice and palliative care patients in their homes or at facilities. This role requires a licensed pet therapy dog and their human companion.

Volunteers in the We Honor Veterans program assist Veterans and their families through companionship visits and special recognition events. Veteran volunteers are highly needed, but being a Veteran is not required to serve our Veteran patients.

Medical Guardian volunteers assist with delivering and setting up Medical Guardian Help Buttons. This role is flexible and requires minimal time commitment, with training provided.

Home hospice volunteers visit our hospice and/or palliative care patients wherever they call home, providing companionship through conversation, reading, or watching movies. Visits are typically limited to 2 hours or less, and volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

Volunteers are needed to facilitate bi-weekly meetings for the Phoenix Rising Program, which provides grief support for children and families. Specialized in-person training is required.

Assist with the Northwest Indiana Beekeepers Association's booth at the Lake County State Fair. Volunteers will help engage with the public, provide information about beekeeping, and support the setup and maintenance of the booth.

5K Event Volunteers help create a memorable experience for participants by assisting with various tasks such as setting up the course, managing water stations, and cheering on runners. Volunteers will receive a GOTR volunteer shirt.

Volunteer Coaches are the heart of the Girls on the Run program, guiding a team through a curriculum that inspires and empowers young girls. Coaches are responsible for leading practices, facilitating discussions, and encouraging healthy habits.

GOTR Ambassadors in West Central Indiana support the mission of Girls on the Run by promoting the program and assisting with events. This role is perfect for those who want to make an impact but cannot commit to coaching.

Junior Coaches, aged 16 to 18, work alongside Coaches to inspire the next generation. They serve as role models, helping to lead practices and activities while developing their own leadership skills.

The Saint John Fire Department is seeking motivated individuals to join our ranks as a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT. No prior experience is required; all training will be provided. For those without prior experience, your career in the fire service will start as a Probationary Firefighter while you attend the <a href="https://www.district1firetraining.com/" target="_blank">IFTS District One Fire Academy</a>. The academy meets on Thursday nights and Saturdays for six months, and is conveniently located in Saint John. Upon completion of the academy - and the acquisition of requisite state certifications - you will be inducted as a full member, and active Firefighter, of the Saint John Fire Department. After obtaining the rank of Firefighter, members will continue their education in both EMS and advanced fire disciplines over time. <br> <b><u>EMS Training</b></u> After successful completion of Fire Academy, candidates not already in possession of an EMS certification will have one year to enroll in a local, state-accredited EMS program to earn their Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. Both accelerated (weekday) and evening classes are available through various EMS providers in the NWI Region. All tuition will be covered by the SJFD's nonprofit foundation, so long as the candidate is an active participant in the department. For convenience of location and times, most candidates chose to enroll in the <a href="https://www.franciscanhealth.org/healthcare-professionals/education/emt-training-course-crown-point" target="_blank">EMS Academy offered through Franciscan Health Crown Point</a>. <br> <b><u>Free College Tuition</b></u> The educational opportunities don't stop with the Fire Academy, however.
