The Walnut Township Fire Department's are seeking enthusiastic and hard working individuals that are interested in serving their community. Provide a temporary home for small breed dogs in need of rescue. Responsibilities include caring for the dog's daily needs and helping them adjust to a home environment until a permanent home is found.

Assist with daily care at the Catnip Cottage, including scooping, providing food and water, light cleaning, and giving love to the cats. Volunteers are expected to commit to once weekly for about two hours.

Assist with marketing, fundraising, and organizing events for Whiskers Animal Rescue. This role can be performed from home and requires creativity and organizational skills.

Assist with transporting cats to and from surgeries, Petco, and Petsmart locations. Volunteers should be comfortable driving and handling cats.

Help facilitate the adoption process by matching cats with their forever homes. Volunteers will assist with applications and coordinate meet-and-greets.

Help with organizing and maintaining the Catnip Cottage. This role is ideal for individuals with a knack for organization and cleanliness.

Provide daily care at Petco locations in Mt Vernon and Heath, including scooping litter boxes, providing fresh food and water, and giving love to the cats. Volunteers are expected to commit to once weekly for about an hour.

Perform indoor and outdoor maintenance and repairs at the maternity home. Requires completion of volunteer paperwork and a background check.

Serve as a role model, teacher, advisor, counselor, and advocate to young women in the home. Assist with skills such as budgeting, parenting, time management, cooking, and baking. Requires a sincere desire to be a positive example.

Drive a resident to weekly classes at C-tec or Heartbeats and babysit for 2-3 hours while the resident attends classes. Requires a valid driver's license, insurance, and a background check.

Lead a workshop on life skills, financial literacy, leadership, or entrepreneurship. Volunteers will facilitate sessions to equip participants with practical skills for personal and professional development.

Support behind the scenes with tasks such as social media management, event planning, and administrative work. Volunteers will help ensure the smooth operation of programs and initiatives.

Assist with community outreach and special events. Volunteers will support event planning and execution, as well as engage with the community to promote youth empowerment initiatives.

Mentor a young person and help them build confidence and skills. Volunteers will provide guidance and support to youth aged 12-18, focusing on personal growth and leadership development.

Support the maintenance and repair of donated vehicles to make them road-worthy for those in need. Volunteers will work on various mechanical tasks and assist with parts management.

Assist in assembling and delivering beds to individuals and families in need within the community. Volunteers will help with logistics, assembly, and direct interaction with recipients.

As a volunteer at Hocking Township FD you do not need to have current certifications in Fire or EMS, but it is highly recommended. HTFD will provide some tuition assistance after successful completion of initial course completion. Volunteer applicants should either live in Hocking Township, an adjoining township or the City of Lancaster. Preferably, volunteer applicants will live within 5-7 minutes to the station at provide quick response times for calls. Training is provided monthly in house and each volunteer is required to provide at a minimum 8 hours of volunteer time monthly.
