Volunteers are needed to pick up food from local grocery stores such as Hannaford or Trader Joe's on Saturday mornings. This role is crucial in ensuring the food shelf remains stocked and ready to serve the community.

Assist in staffing the food shelf by helping with customer service, stocking shelves, and preparing shifts. Volunteers play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the food shelf.

Participate in organizing and managing special events to support Aunt Dot's Place. This role involves planning, coordination, and execution of events to raise awareness and support for the food shelf.

Assist with special pick-ups and food collection efforts to ensure the food shelf is well-stocked. This role is essential for maintaining the supply of food and personal care items.

The Part-Time, On-Call Firefighter serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. This work shall be done within the Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG’s) of the Winooski Fire Department and City policy, within the following general categories: fire suppression, rescue, hazardous material responses, training, equipment and station maintenance. The Essex Junction Fire Department is currently accepting paid-call firefighter applications. Paid-call firefighters, like Volunteer Firefighters, lead normal daily lives outside of the Department but are available to respond to emergencies on an as-needed basis. Essex Junction Fire provides fire, rescue, hazmat and first response (Advanced EMT level) for the City of Essex Junction. No prior training or experience is required although we do encourage individuals who already hold Fire/EMS certification to apply. The department allows for dual membership for members who serve on other Fire or Rescue agencies as long as they are within a reasonable distance to respond. The Fire Department provides training Monday nights and Thursday Mornings to accommodate most busy lifestyles and personal responsibilities. All equipment and training are paid for by the department, Firefighters receive an hourly wage when responding to emergency calls and for certain department activities. Volunteers are needed to assist with concert duties such as greeting patrons, handling ticket purchases, distributing programs, ushering, and selling CDs. After volunteering for an hour or two, volunteers can enjoy the concerts free of charge.

Volunteers assist the CASAN board with tasks such as fundraising, social media management, and website development. This role supports the organization's mission to aid asylum seekers.

Volunteers are needed to provide transportation for asylum seekers to appointments and social outings. They also offer friendship and help new community members get acquainted with the area.

Volunteers provide housing for new community members, ideally in spaces with some separation, such as 'mother-in-law' apartments. This role involves offering a safe and welcoming environment for asylum seekers.

Participate in expeditions, programs, and events to help clean oceans while learning about marine debris and its solutions. Volunteers will engage in hands-on activities that may involve getting dirty, sandy, salty, and muddy.
