The FFD has varied volunteer positions: Interior or Exterior Firefighter, Fire Police, Restricted Access Member Program, Administrative, Apparatus Operator, Ambulance Driver, Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic. | Requirements: The Fayetteville Fire Department attracts some of our community's finest volunteers. Here is what you should think about as you consider applying: •You will fill out an application, your background will be checked, you will be interviewed by Department representatives and, if recommended, approved by the Village of Fayetteville Board of Trustees. •You will be required to attend a Department orientation soon after you're acceptance. •You will be asked what area most interests you (fire or EMS) and assigned a mentor who has experience with the Department. •You will be expected to move along in a progression to realize your goals and to develop skills you can use as a Department volunteer. •Though you won't be receiving gear or uniforms until later, upon entry you will be issued a Department T-shirt which will identify you as an active, probationary recruit. •You will be on probation for six months at which point the membership will vote to continue or terminate your membership in the Department. •You should be prepared to spend one to two years taking classes and dedicating time to observing and responding before you will become a fully productive member. EMT classes, apparatus operation classes, and fire fighter classes all take time and intense training. •If you are interested in being an Administrative member you will develop your expectations with your mentor. As a Contact Hotline Volunteer, you will provide emotional support to individuals in crisis through a confidential hotline. Volunteers will be trained to listen empathetically and support callers in exploring their feelings. A commitment of at least 12 months and completion of extensive training is required.

As a TeleCare Volunteer, you will provide reassurance and support to isolated individuals through scheduled phone calls. Responsibilities include offering medication reminders, welfare checks, and friendly conversation. Training is provided, and volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of three 4-hour shifts per month for the first six months.

Sit at the Folkus table during special events such as the Westcott Fair and the Plowshares Craftsfair and Peace Festival, providing information and engaging with attendees.

Volunteer to bake goods for one of Folkus' shows, contributing to the event's hospitality offerings.

Sign up to work on a show night with minimal time commitment. Responsibilities may include assisting with event setup, ticketing, and guest services.

Assist with organizing and executing the annual Member Appreciation dinner, including setup, service, and cleanup.

Work on special projects or new initiatives within the Folkus organization, contributing to the growth and development of their programs.

Assist in the rehabilitation of small mammals, including rabbits, and participate in conservation projects. Volunteers will learn about wildlife care and help with habitat building and conservation work.

If you have expertise in a particular area, you can lead exercise classes or workshops at the Centre. Volunteers are encouraged to propose new programs that they would like to run, contributing to the diverse offerings available to members.

Volunteers help staff various fundraising events such as tag sales, bake sales, and special luncheons. Participation can involve setting up, managing activities, and assisting attendees, providing a great opportunity to engage with the community.

Dining Room volunteers assist with the lunch program by setting tables, preparing coffee, serving meals, and helping with clean-up. Volunteers typically commit from 11:15 AM to 1:00 PM Monday-Thursday, and 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Fridays, and should be able to stand for most of this time.

Train to be an emergency disaster services volunteer, providing critical support during times of crisis. Volunteers will assist with disaster response efforts, including shelter management and distribution of supplies.

Work with youth in the after school program, providing mentorship and guidance. Volunteers will help organize activities and support educational efforts.

Serve in our soup kitchen, helping to prepare and serve meals to individuals and families in need. Volunteers will also assist with cleaning and maintaining the kitchen area.

Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, answering phones, and other office duties. Volunteers will help ensure the smooth operation of our programs and services.

Sort donations in our food pantry, ensuring that food items are properly organized and distributed to those in need. Volunteers will help with inventory management and client assistance.

Ring a bell at one of our iconic red kettles from early November through Christmas Eve, raising funds that change lives all year long. Volunteers are the difference between an empty kettle and one that raises about $50 per hour.

Become an ambassador for the choir, spreading awareness about its mission and engaging your community. Volunteers will champion the choir's cause and help build connections within the community.
