The FFD has varied volunteer positions: Interior or Exterior Firefighter, Fire Police, Restricted Access Member Program, Administrative, Apparatus Operator, Ambulance Driver, Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic. | Requirements: The Fayetteville Fire Department attracts some of our community's finest volunteers. Here is what you should think about as you consider applying: •You will fill out an application, your background will be checked, you will be interviewed by Department representatives and, if recommended, approved by the Village of Fayetteville Board of Trustees. •You will be required to attend a Department orientation soon after you're acceptance. •You will be asked what area most interests you (fire or EMS) and assigned a mentor who has experience with the Department. •You will be expected to move along in a progression to realize your goals and to develop skills you can use as a Department volunteer. •Though you won't be receiving gear or uniforms until later, upon entry you will be issued a Department T-shirt which will identify you as an active, probationary recruit. •You will be on probation for six months at which point the membership will vote to continue or terminate your membership in the Department. •You should be prepared to spend one to two years taking classes and dedicating time to observing and responding before you will become a fully productive member. EMT classes, apparatus operation classes, and fire fighter classes all take time and intense training. •If you are interested in being an Administrative member you will develop your expectations with your mentor. Manlius Fire Department
The Manlius Fire Department is located 5 miles east of the City of Syracuse in the heart of Central New York. Operating two stations, the Manlius Fire Department provides Fire and Emergency Medical Services to the Village of Manlius, the Town of Manlius and the Town of Pompey. The Fire Department covers approximately 27 square miles of both residential, commercial and agricultural properties. The "Department" consists of four separate entities. The "Fire Department" is owned by the village. Since 1813 volunteers have been providing, and continue to provide, service to our community. In 1987, with the exodus of industry and commercial operations in the village, the first career fireman was hired to ensure an apparatus operator or emt for daytime response. The number of career has grown to 12, mainly to again ensure daytime response. | Requirements: Manlius Fire/EMS is a very progressive, professional, and family-oriented department.
