Volunteering with the History Center involves inventorying artifacts and documents waiting to be digitally catalogued, proofreading catalog entries for style consistency, and culling duplicate objects. Volunteers also assist in researching, planning, and refreshing exhibits regularly.

The program committee plans and promotes quarterly programs that are free and open to the public. Volunteers help organize events featuring various topics, guest speakers, and multimedia presentations.

This committee conducts outreach to increase awareness and participation in the historical society. Volunteers collaborate with schools and the Senior Center to bring Waterbury's history into the community through special presentations, field trips, and activities.

Volunteers help with writing, editing, and designing projects, including the quarterly newsletter, event and program posters, digital content for social media and the website, and press releases.

Volunteers in this group help cultivate relationships and resources that sustain and grow the society. Opportunities include donor and volunteer outreach, grant writing assistance, and other fundraising initiatives.

Volunteers assist with staffing, refreshments, reservations, and logistics for special events such as the annual Memorial Day Celebration & Ghost Walk, History Center Open Houses, and history walks.

Board members meet monthly to discuss the business of the society. These meetings are open to the public, and members serve two- or three-year terms, with elections at the annual meeting in the fall.
