Volunteers are needed to support individuals in vulnerable or exploitative situations. This involves active engagement and providing resources and care to those being exploited. Interviews, background checks, and training are required.

Fundraising volunteers play an important role in raising funds for necessities and medical treatment for rescue dogs. Volunteers will help prepare for events and fundraisers.

Transport volunteers assist with transporting rescue dogs from shelters, to/from vets, foster families, or to their new homes. This role is essential for the logistics of the rescue operations.

Foster parents provide a temporary home for Great Pyrenees dogs until they can be matched with their forever home. This role is crucial for the well-being of the dogs.

Attends and successfully completes training including but not limited to basic fire fighting, hazardous materials and Emergency Medical Responder training courses. Participates in fire safety and prevention. Responds to fire incidents and conducts tasks including rescue, ventilation, salvage and overhaul, and other fire ground support activities. May not participate in interior attack or work in an IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health) environment without Firefighter 1 and 2 certification. Responds to emergency medical incidents and may serve as a member of the emergency medical team conducting patient history inquiries, patient assessments, provides basic life support treatment, provides assistance to ALS provider, and shall follow EMS Protocols. Responds to other incidents including hazardous materials, rescue, extrication, and confined space rescues. Drives and operates apparatus only after qualified and approved to do so. Inspects fire apparatus after each incident to insure proper operating condition. Operates cutting saws, hydraulic equipment and an assortment of other rescue equipment and tools, removes fire and accident victims to a safe area and administers emergency medical services. Respond to fire incidents and lays, connects and operates hose and nozzles. Directs water streams, establishes water supply, raises and climbs ladders. Also, works with ropes in tying knots and helps in setting up rescue rigging, uses chemical extinguishers, uses saws, axes, ventilation fan or smoke ejector and other equipment to ventilate structures and expose hidden fire areas, helps in salvage and overhaul operations. Performs general maintenance work in the upkeep of fire station buildings and grounds, cleans and maintains equipment and station. Decontaminates apparatus, equipment and clothing exposed to fluids and blood, potential airborne or blood pathogens. Maintains at least a good level of overall fitness and is physically capable and ready for incidents. Demonstrates positive behavior which reflects support for the Board of Directors, Fire Chief, Fire Officers and all Personnel with respect for the Fire Districts philosophies, policies, goals, and Objectives. Each week, volunteers provide a warm meal for youth participating in a Life Skills class at our facilities. Volunteers can cook a meal for 15 youth every Tuesday evening, with the option to stay and dine with the youth or simply drop off the meal.

Assist in overseeing and managing the building maintenance program, ensuring the facility is safe and welcoming for the dogs and volunteers.

Assist the volunteer coordinator in managing, scheduling, recruiting, and supporting volunteers and volunteer programs. This role is crucial for maintaining the volunteer workforce.

Assist in staffing tables or booths at events to educate the public about Shep's Place's mission. Volunteers will engage with the community to raise awareness and support for the sanctuary.

Meet with prospective adopters to help match them with dogs that suit their personality and needs. Volunteers will assist in the adoption process, including conducting initial home visits.
