FDMH is looking for your help! We are actively recruiting EMTs, AEMTs, Paramedics and EMS Drivers to serve in our community. We are a combination fire & EMS department, staffed by lots of volunteers and some full time staff. We serve the areas of Mount Horeb, Blue Mounds and towns of Cross Plains, Vermont, Blue Mounds, Springdale, Perry and Primrose in Dane County, Wisconsin. No prior training is needed. EMS Driver training will be provided in house. Classes for EMTs are provided at the local technical colleges. Reimbursement is available after passing the class and a time commitment to FDMH. After training and orientation, you must cover an assigned shift, either weekly during the night or on a weekend rotation. EMS also need to complete 18 hours of training each year to remain in good standing with FDMH. Emergencies happen on our highways as well as in our homes, schools and job sites. This means the safety of our community is dependent on the generous contribution of time and talent of our volunteer EMTs, EMS Drivers and Firefighters. We are a combination fire department, staffed by lots of volunteers and some full time staff. We serve the areas of Mount Horeb, Blue Mounds and towns of Cross Plains, Vermont, Blue Mounds, Springdale, Perry and Primrose in Dane County, Wisconsin. No prior training is needed; classes are provided to train you to do firefighting skills. After training you must complete 36 hours of training each year and respond to a minimum of 10% of our fire calls to remain in good standing with FDMH. Collect data about plant and animal species for the Wisconsin Citizen-based Monitoring Network. Opportunities include the Frog and Toad Survey, Turtle Conservation Program, Volunteer Carnivore Tracking, and Bat Monitoring Program.

Assist with conservation projects at Wisconsin’s State Natural Areas. Tasks include cutting brush, pulling and spraying invasive plants, collecting seeds, and preparing fire breaks. Volunteer days are scheduled throughout the year.

Engage in 40 hours of coursework in natural history, interpretation, and conservation stewardship. Once trained, support citizen science, stewardship, and education efforts by volunteering in your community.

Collect important data for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources by hosting a trail camera. Requirements include access to at least 10 acres of land, ability to check the camera at least once every three months for a full year, and basic computer skills.

Volunteer with the Wisconsin State Parks System in various roles such as campground host or helping with restoration projects. This is a great way to get outside and give back to nature.

The Grant Writer will study and understand WWA's history, programs, and objectives; research grant opportunities; draft grant proposals and supporting documents; submit proposals to grant coordinators for approval; maintain positive relationships with funders; maintain records and submit reports related to their work for board review.

The Treasurer is a board position with a three-year commitment. The Treasurer is responsible for managing the work of WWA's bookkeeper, managing the organization's QuickBooks file, following proper procedures for the receipt and disbursement of funds, preparing monthly reports for board review, preparing the annual budget, and maintaining organized financial records.

Volunteers to talk to local bookstores or booksellers and libraries/friends of library groups or book clubs in your neighborhood with sales information about WWA books to stock, and potentially invite authors to talk and do signings. One time opportunity at your own pace for two to three hours as needed at your own pace. Must be able to approach book store owners and librarians or friends of libraries groups and find book clubs and share information about WWA Press books. You will be given information and a physical copy of the books as samples.

Volunteers will help shape and influence policies on behalf of their patients and pharmacy practice.

Assist in organizing and managing various professional conferences for pharmacy professionals. Volunteers will help with event setup, registration, and providing support to attendees during the conference.
