West Rowan Volunteer Fire Department is a Class 5 department that serves and protects the western most portion of Rowan County, North Carolina. Our district covers approximately 49 square miles of rural homes and farmland. With approximately 3,000 citizens living within our district West Rowan VFD is seeking individuals who want to serve their community. We are currently looking for men and women willing to serve as firefighters and medical responders. Respond to emergency calls, which may include fire, rescue, hazardous materials incidents, medical emergencies and other emergencies. Assist with the rescue and rehabilitation of sick, injured, and displaced reptiles and amphibians. Volunteers play a crucial role in the care and recovery of these animals, ensuring their well-being and eventual release back into the wild.

Help transport animals in need to and from the Carolina Reptile Center. Volunteers will ensure the safe and timely delivery of reptiles and amphibians, playing a vital role in their rescue and rehabilitation process.

Teach and engage the community at educational events, helping to spread awareness about reptile conservation and the importance of wildlife protection. Volunteers will assist in organizing and conducting events.

Support the library by assisting in the planning and execution of special events. Volunteers will help set up, manage, and break down events, ensuring a smooth experience for attendees.

Assist in organizing and distributing school supplies to local children as part of the annual back-to-school drive. Volunteers will help ensure that supplies are ready for distribution and assist families during the event.
