Blue Mound Fire Department is currently accepting applications to test for volunteer firefighters. Must be able to commit to Tuesday night and occasional weekend training. Applications must be picked up and dropped off in person at Blue Mound Fire Department. Questions? Feel free to stop by the station on Tuesdays from 6-8PM | Requirements: Blue Mound Fire Department application. -Completely filled out and notarized. -Background check. Officers interview. Physical Fitness Test (PFT) Timed physical fitness measurement wearing bunker coat, gloves, helmet, and SCBA. -Jacobs Ladder (150 ft climb) -Keizer Sled -Charged Hose Drag -Farmers Carry -Ladder Raise -Dummy Drag If unable to complete the above test in the minimum time of 10:00 minutes, then the candidate will have 30 days to retest. Upon successful completion of the Application process, Officers interview, and the PFT, then the candidate enters a 120-day probationary period. During this time, the probationary firefighter must learn the minimum skills. -CPR -Engine 32 Test -Blue Mound Street Test -Vital Sign Assessment -Donning/Doffing Bunker Gear -Display a positive and professional attitude in all contact with the public and other agencies (ie, mutual aid companies, utilities). -Obey all departmental Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Operating Guidelines, Code of Conduct, and comply with all departmental expectations. -Demonstrate continuous effort to become more proficient in general firefighter duties, improving operational skills with all firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical tools for which training has been received, decreasing response times, and working cooperatively and jointly to provide quality service to the city of Blue Mound and our mutual aid districts. During the 120-day probationary period, BMFD reserves the right to release the probationary firefighter without cause. Evaluation of the probationary volunteer during this period shall serve in separating any probationary volunteer whose performance does not meet required work standards. If all requirements are met during the 120-day period, then an exit interview will be conducted with an officer’s panel to notify you if you will enter the eight-month rookie period or if you will be released from the department. | Categories: EMT, Firefighter
