The traffic vest and traffic wand are the uniform of the Fire Police Officer as they assist the public in avoiding dangerous situations such as motor vehicle accidents, fire scenes, utility emergencies and more. Fire Police Officers also take an active role in the community by assisting with traffic management at events such as road races, school events, motorcycle charity runs, beach concerts, and more. | Requirements: To become a Fire Police Officer you must be 18 years of age and apply to join the department. Volunteer firefighters at the Goshen Fire Department respond to various emergencies including fire, rescue, marine, medical and so many other types of emergencies. Our volunteers staff two Class A pumpers, a 24' Fire Boat, a 14' rigid hull inflatable rescue boat, a UTV, and two service trucks. Firefighters are provided with all training to become certified Firefighters, EMTs, and more. Once certified, firefighters are eligible to receive as stipend for each call they respond to as part of the paid-per-call system in the Town of Waterford. Members also receive a stipend for completing certification classes. | Requirements: In order to apply to be a volunteer firefighter you must be 18 years of age or older. Once accepted into the department members are provided with all required training to be a firefighter.
