At the BVVFD we provide fire and rescue services to the residents of Elizabeth Township, and we are 100% volunteer. United Volunteer Fire & Rescue is an all-volunteer department serving the communities of East McKeesport and Wall. We are always on the lookout for anyone 14 years of age and up to help the department in any way that they can. Being a volunteer does not mean that you are limited to entering a burning building - far from it! In fact, not every member is interested in 'going inside'. Even if all you want to do is drive the equipment to the scene, we can use the help. There are opportunities for vehicle rescue and EMS calls, for sure, but we also need help behind the scenes with administration, fund raising, and community outreach. Looking for folks to help a progressive organization in all aspects of the fire-rescue world. We cover approximately 23 square miles protecting around 13'000 residents. Our area is predominately a bed room community with some light industrial mixed in. Mutual aid is provided to communities all around us and into Westmoreland County. We respond to around 350 calls a year including some QRS calls, however most of our calls are vehicle crashes. We currently have a 2002 Pierce Engine, 1996 New Lexington Heavy Rescue (New one on order!), 1976 Mack Baker Aerialscope, 2011 Ford/Brat Mini pumper, 2008 Ford F-250 Utility unit and a trailer carrying a quad and 6x6 Ranger. We are also part of a regional technical rescue team which responds to all over Allegheny County! We are also part of a continuing effort to consolidate/merge with 2 other departments within our township. Junior program minimum age is 14 Y/O Senior Firefighter and Support Member minimum age is 18 Y/O | Requirements: A willingness to train and help others!
