We are looking for anyone living in the North Syracuse area interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter with the North Syracuse Fire Department. We are a very progressive department that currently is staffed with 40 firefighters including some that are also Paramedics and Emt's. We currently operate out of two stations with 3 Engines,1 Heavy Rescue, 1 Tower Ladder, 2 Light Rescues all under the direction of 3 Fire Chief's. We run approximately 700-800 calls of service a year. The North Syracuse Fire Department offers a free room and board program for student who are attending local colleges. Each bunk-in is provided a place to live during their college semester. In exchange for the free room and board the student attends weekly fire department training and provides a service as a volunteer firefighter during a scheduled shift. Ring a bell at one of our iconic red kettles from early November through Christmas Eve, raising funds that change lives all year long. Volunteers are the difference between an empty kettle and one that raises about $50 per hour.

Train to be an emergency disaster services volunteer, providing critical support during times of crisis. Volunteers will assist with disaster response efforts, including shelter management and distribution of supplies.

Sort donations in our food pantry, ensuring that food items are properly organized and distributed to those in need. Volunteers will help with inventory management and client assistance.

Assist in the rehabilitation of small mammals, including rabbits, and participate in conservation projects. Volunteers will learn about wildlife care and help with habitat building and conservation work.

As a TeleCare Volunteer, you will provide reassurance and support to isolated individuals through scheduled phone calls. Responsibilities include offering medication reminders, welfare checks, and friendly conversation. Training is provided, and volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of three 4-hour shifts per month for the first six months.

As a Contact Hotline Volunteer, you will provide emotional support to individuals in crisis through a confidential hotline. Volunteers will be trained to listen empathetically and support callers in exploring their feelings. A commitment of at least 12 months and completion of extensive training is required.

The Moyers Corners Fire Department is a 100% Volunteer Fire Department serving our community since 1948. We currently have openings at each of our four fire stations located in the Town of Clay, Onondaga County, New York. No experience necessary, we provide the training and equipment. The MCFD currently has 150 members that include volunteer firefighters, emt's, paramedics, and fire police.
