Assist with the care of rescued dogs by helping with their first bath, providing attention, and ensuring they are comfortable in their new environment. Volunteers also participate in fundraising activities to support the rescue efforts.

Run both the full-size 1916 carrousel and the 1930s kiddie carrousel. Ensure an educational and safe ride for all visitors. Operators for the 1916 #1 Special Carrousel must be 18 or older, and operators for the Kiddie Carrousel must be 16 or older.

Assist with various events such as Halloween Spooktacular, Lantern Tours, Santa on the Carousel, Birthday parties, and other events.

Guide tours for children and adult groups and interact with walk-in visitors throughout the museum to interpret the factory’s history.

Help the museum with upkeep and maintenance activities, including carpentry and painting. This role is available on Mondays and Fridays from 9 AM to 1 PM.

Volunteer as a photographer at the Ride for Roswell, capturing photos of riders, team tents, volunteers, and event activities. These photos help promote the event and support Roswell Park's fundraising efforts. Volunteers need a camera and access to editing software.

Assist in digitizing and organizing the museum's collection of historical photographs, documents, and artifacts. Volunteers will help make these collections accessible to the public online.

Licensed barbers and cosmetologists are needed to donate their time giving free haircuts to those who cannot afford one in the Western New York community. Volunteers will be provided with all necessary supplies and tools.

Assist with sweeping hair, disinfecting tools, and engaging with guests during haircut events. No specific skills are required, and all necessary supplies will be provided.

Assist with providing temporary room and board for adults in need of care or supervision. Help with social activities, wellness center visits, and ensuring a comfortable stay for participants.

You also need courage and dedication, assertiveness, and a willingness to learn new skills and face new challenges. Our service is one that calls on its members to perform hot, sweaty, dirty, strenuous work, often in uncertain and hazardous environments. Our volunteers need to be team players, respecting each other’s role and contributions. You need to be able to work on-call and to deal with occasional interruptions to your lifestyle, dropping what you’re doing at the ‘sound of the bell’ to respond to the emergency needs of your fellow citizen. A new recruit can expect to spend between 5-10 hours each week on fire company business. This entails meetings, training, emergency responses and other miscellaneous activities. Some weeks will be more and other weeks much less. The days of the week or times may vary depending on the level of activity. However, most regularly scheduled events occur on Wednesday evenings. We’ve listed a lot of the benefits you can expect from us, and in return there are certain objectives we expect you to meet: TO APPLY: You must be at least 16 years of age to apply. A statement of parental or guardian consent must accompany an application from anyone under the age of 18 years. You must be a citizen of the United States. You must be physically, intellectually and emotionally capable of performing the duties according to your area of assignment. You must reside within the Eggertsville Fire District. You must have no record of felony convictions. You must successfully pass an OSHA Physical examination conducted by our medical provider and paid for by the fire district. New members will be considered on probation for a minimum period of one year. After this probationary period, the member will be recommended for continued service or terminated at that time. Removal from probationary status requires that the aforementioned requirements be fulfilled along with the probationary requirements of their membership classification. All members must attend 50% of all regular monthly business meetings (6 per year) held on the first Monday of every month, and all special meetings unless excused. All personnel are responsible for assisting in the fund-raising efforts of the organization. Failure to complete the minimum requirements can result in termination of membership. New Firefighters must complete a NYS Firefighter I course within one to two years of acceptance into membership. Probationary firefighters will not be allowed to attend any other courses prior to completion of the Firefighter I course. New Firefighters must attend at least 12 regularly scheduled or special drills (Training) during the one-year probation period. Regular drills are scheduled on Wednesdays.
