It will also include an occasional weekend for fire department purposes. These meetings and training sessions are in addition to responding to fire and EMS calls. Within the first year probationary period, volunteers will be required to complete a volunteer firefighter training course, which consists of 36 hours of training. During the probationary period volunteer firefighters will be evaluated on a regular basis. At the end of the probationary period, the applicant will be evaluated by the Fire Officers to determine whether he/she will be eligible for regular membership with the department. Prior to completion of the second year of service on the department, the volunteer must have successfully completed a Basic EMT course. Attendance on incidents is important, and evaluation of member attendance is constantly monitored.
