The Ogden Dunes Volunteer Fire Department serving the Town of Ogden Dunes, Porter County, in northwestern Indiana on the southern shore of Lake Michigan is seeking new members to serve in community emergency responder (Firefighter, Emergency Medical Responder [EMR], and/or Emergency Medical Technician [EMT]) roles. Assist the Greenhouse Team in planting and nurturing native plants like Common Milkweed and Butterfly Weed. Work involves planting seeds and caring for sprouts in the greenhouse.

Help distribute food boxes to families during designated distribution days. Volunteers will assist with logistics, crowd management, and ensuring smooth operations.

Participate in the Turkeypalooza event by helping with event setup, management, and cleanup. Volunteers will engage with the community and support event activities.

Join the team to pack food boxes for families in need. Volunteers will work in groups to ensure all items are properly packed and ready for distribution.

Assist in collecting food donations from August through November. Volunteers will help organize and transport collected items to designated locations.

Assist in the distribution of free clothing to families in need. Volunteers are needed to help organize and distribute clothing on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Support the Dunes-Calumet Audubon Society by assisting at the Outreach Table during the Indiana Dunes Birding Festival. Engage with nature enthusiasts and help promote the society's initiatives.

Assist in selling native plants at the Indiana Dunes Birding Festival's Migration Marketplace. Volunteers will help in an outdoor tent at the Indiana Dunes National Park Visitor Center. No prior experience or knowledge of native plants is required.

Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department is located 42 miles east of Chicago in Porter County between Chesterton and Valparaiso. Established in 1955, we provide Fire, Rescue and BLS protection to over 15,000 residents and 39 square miles. Our largely rural district includes the drastically growing Liberty Township and half of Jackson Township under contract. Our response area includes portions of the East/West Toll Road, a near 5 mile stretch of State Road 49,and over 10 miles of US Route 6. Over the last 5 years,the department has ran an average of 745 calls. We respond under Mutual Aid agreements to 5 neighboring departments, as well as an automatic aid agreement with neighboring Westville Fire for a portion of our rural overlapping districts. | Requirements: No experience is required,but is preferred. Probationary Firefighters will be put through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security Firefighter 1&2 Course through District 1. The Department requires a minimum of Mandatory Firefighter Certification to respond to Emergency Calls. Join the Bluebird Trail Team to assess and maintain bluebird boxes at Coffee Creek Watershed. Volunteers will check for old nests and ensure the boxes are ready for new residents.

The Lake Ridge Volunteer Fire Department is currently seeking individuals in our district who are dedicated and hard-working and would like to join us in serving our community. Volunteer firefighters are local heroes who help their neighbors, save lives and earn respect every time they work. No prior experience is required; all training will be provided. It does not matter if you're a recent high-school graduate looking to start your career in the fire service, or a seasoned workforce professional looking to give back to our community; there's a place for you at LRFD. All firefighters will start as Probationary Firefighters for period of at least 1 year. The probationary firefighter will be required to attend the District One Fire Academy unless previously certified in Indiana Firefighting 1 & 2. Provide a temporary home for dogs needing time to grow, stabilize, and socialize before finding their forever homes. BARC provides all necessary supplies and support.

Create homemade doggie treats, fleece blankets, and accessories for sale at events. Materials are provided by BARC.

Help transport dogs to local events, vet appointments, and other pet-care services. Assist in relaying dogs with other organizations.

Supervise dogs at adoption events, take them for play dates, and provide much-needed exercise and socialization.

Assist in organizing and helping at fundraisers and events, including selling items, answering questions, and promoting dogs for adoption.
