This program will guide and teach our members the science of firefighting in anticipation of becoming certified firefighters upon turning 18 years old. As a junior member, education is a priority. Junior firefighters are allowed to answer fire calls (in accordance with the State of New Jersey Child Labor Laws), attend Junior Firefighter drills and meetings, partake in free company related drills and activities, and much more. All training and equipment is provided free of charge! We give free access to wi-fi, as well as printing services for our membership. Qualified individuals will be trained to drive fire apparatus and given consideration to become a leader as a firematic officer in the department. Training is offered at no cost to every member. Also included is assisting fire prevention with presentations and community outreach events. Hard work is not all that being a volunteer involves. There are community orientated events where you can interact with the public whom you serve. Not to mention social activities where you will make lifelong friends with your new coworkers. While no career positions are currently available, many past members have used the knowledge they achieved to attain a career in the fire service. | Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and no more than 45 years old, preferably living in the 5th Fire District (Avenel, parts of Colonia, Iselin & Woodbridge) but consideration is given to all Woodbridge Township residents and those living in parts of Carteret and Rahway. The entire process takes approximately 3-4 months to complete. Assist in the care and maintenance of animals at the shelter. Responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, and providing companionship to cats and kittens. Volunteers help ensure the well-being of the animals and support the adoption process.

Provide temporary homes for cats awaiting adoption. Fosters care for the animals in their own homes, providing love and basic care until they are adopted.

Assist in transporting cats to and from adoption events, veterinary appointments, and foster homes. Volunteers must have a valid driver's license and be comfortable handling cats.

Help run adoption events by setting up, interacting with potential adopters, and providing information about the cats available for adoption. Volunteers should be friendly and enjoy working with the public.

As a foster volunteer, you will provide a temporary home for a dog in need, offering love and care until they find their forever home. The organization provides all necessary supplies, and you are encouraged to network your foster dog to help find them a permanent home.
