Bridge Volunteers connect with students to provide a positive, fun, and safe environment, serving weekly or monthly. They support afterschool programs and events, building relationships with students.

Facility Volunteers assist with administrative tasks like answering phones, data entry, and mail preparation during office hours. They also promote The Bridge in the community by distributing materials and posting on bulletin boards.

Adult volunteers at The Bridge Thrift Store help process donations and keep shelves stocked to support teen programs. Volunteers commit to serve weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly for 2-4 hours, with flexible days and hours.

Assist with the organization and administration of Gathering Days and other events. Responsibilities may include setting up, coordinating activities, and ensuring smooth operations during events.

Lead a craft session for children during Gathering Days, engaging them in creative activities and projects. Volunteers should be able to plan and execute a craft activity that is suitable for a range of ages.

Share your expertise or experience with homeschooling families during Gathering Days. Volunteers are expected to prepare a presentation or talk that is educational and engaging for both children and parents.

Support adoption events by helping set up, interacting with potential adopters, and providing information about the animals. Volunteers play a key role in facilitating successful adoptions.

Assist with the care and maintenance of animals in the shelter, including feeding, cleaning, and socializing with the animals. Volunteers help ensure the animals are comfortable and well-cared for during their stay.

The Garden Homes Fire Protection District is one of the last 100% volunteer fire departments left in Cook County. We are charged with providing Fire and EMS services for the Garden Homes community, as well as the towns of Merrionette Park and Robbins through automatic aid agreements, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. As a Lesson Volunteer, you will lead horses or side-walk during therapeutic riding lessons. Volunteers will be trained on how to properly lead a horse and provide support to riders with differing needs. Responsibilities may also include grooming and saddling horses before sessions.
