Long Lake Fire covers the areas of Long Lake, Orono, and part of Medina and Lake Minnetonka out of two stations. One station located in Long Lake and the other in Navarre (Orono). Volunteers are needed to help with weeding, landscaping, and planting in the memorial gardens. Your efforts will help maintain a peaceful and beautiful environment for families to remember their loved ones.

We are looking for compassionate volunteers to help in the care of our animals. Responsibilities include observing the well-being of the animals, cleaning stalls, refreshing water bowls, and maintaining the cleanliness of the sanctuary. Volunteers must be comfortable with physical tasks such as bending, scooping, and lifting hay bales.

Our dogs would love to find you! We are often in need of strangers to 'get lost' for our K9 Teams. Training locations are outdoors, and you must be dressed for the weather conditions and wear shoes you can walk in. You should be able to walk a minimum of ½ mile, and be prepared to wait at the end of the trail for anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours.

To protect life and property by performing fire fighting, emergency aid, hazardous materials, and fire prevention duties, under the direction of district command staff. Essential Functions • Performs firefighting activities including driving fire apparatus, operating pumps and related equipment, laying hose, and performing fire combat, containment and extinguishment tasks. • Performs emergency aid activities including administering first aid and providing other assistance as required. • Participates in fire drills, attends classes in firefighting, emergency medical, hazardous materials, and related subjects. • Receives and relays fire calls and alarms. • Operates radio and other communication equipment. • Provides “first responder” emergency medical services. • Participates in the inspection of buildings, hydrants, and other structures in fire prevention programs. • Maintains fire equipment, apparatus and facilities. Performs minor repairs to district equipment. • Performs general maintenance work in the upkeep of fire facilities and equipment, cleans and washes walls and floors; cares for grounds around station; makes minor repairs; washes and dries hose; washes, cleans, polishes, maintains and tests apparatus and equipment. | Requirements: Minimum requirements are: o High School Diploma or GED equivalent o Must be at least 18 years of age o Valid Drivers License Desired Knowledge: o Working knowledge of driver safety, working knowledge of first aid. o Ability to learn the operation of fire suppression and other emergency equipment. o Qualified in the application of standard firefighting, emergency aid, hazardous materials, and fire prevention techniques. o Ability to perform strenuous work for prolonged periods of time under conditions of extreme height, intense heat or cold, noise, smoke, or obscured vision during fire fighting, rescue, hazardous materials, medical response, and training. o Ability to act effectively in emergency and stressful situations. o Ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions. o Effective written and oral communication skills. o Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the general public. o Must be able to pass a medical exam and the District physical ability test. | Categories: EMT, Firefighter

Assist in organizing and distributing food to individuals and families in need. Volunteers help with stocking shelves, sorting donations, and assisting clients with their food selections.

Help sort and organize clothing donations for distribution to those in need. Volunteers assist in maintaining the clothing area and ensuring items are ready for clients.

Assist in the Saturday program by supporting teachers and helping students with their lessons. Volunteers will engage with students to foster a love of learning and assist in various academic enrichment activities.

Assist in the survey and treatment of Eurasian Watermilfoil in Bay Lake. Volunteers will help in identifying and tracking infestation sites as well as participating in treatment processes.

Volunteers assist in various community service projects, including helping teachers, entertaining and gardening at senior living centers, and executing organizational projects at shelters. They also prepare meals at food shelves, clean up city parks and fire stations, and more.

Intake Volunteers assist with animals arriving at The Bond Between. Duties include setting up crates, managing supplies, and ensuring animals are ready for vetting and photography.

Rescue Support Volunteers assist at the Minnetonka office, helping with donation drop-offs, animal care, and office organization. Volunteers commit to regular shifts.

Let Out Volunteers care for animals at the Minnetonka office, ensuring they receive walks, food, water, and medication. Volunteers also maintain cleanliness in animal areas.
