Our dogs would love to find you! We are often in need of strangers to 'get lost' for our K9 Teams. Training locations are outdoors, and you must be dressed for the weather conditions and wear shoes you can walk in. You should be able to walk a minimum of ½ mile, and be prepared to wait at the end of the trail for anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours.
Excelsior Fire Dist
To protect life and property by performing fire fighting, emergency aid, hazardous materials, and fire prevention duties, under the direction of district command staff. Maintains fire equipment, apparatus and facilities. Essential Functions • Performs firefighting activities including driving fire apparatus, operating pumps and related equipment, laying hose, and performing fire combat, containment and extinguishment tasks. • Performs emergency aid activities including administering first aid and providing other assistance as required. • Participates in fire drills, attends classes in firefighting, emergency medical, hazardous materials, and related subjects. • Receives and relays fire calls and alarms. • Operates radio and other communication equipment. • Provides “first responder” emergency medical services. • Participates in the inspection of buildings, hydrants, and other structures in fire prevention programs. • Maintains fire equipment, apparatus and facilities. Performs minor repairs to district equipment. • Performs general maintenance work in the upkeep of fire facilities and equipment, cleans and washes walls and floors; cares for grounds around station; makes minor repairs; washes and dries hose; washes, cleans, polishes, maintains and tests apparatus and equipment. | Requirements: Minimum requirements are: o High School Diploma or GED equivalent o Must be at least 18 years of age o Valid Drivers License Desired Knowledge: o Working knowledge of driver safety, working knowledge of first aid. o Ability to learn the operation of fire suppression and other emergency equipment. o Qualified in the application of standard firefighting, emergency aid, hazardous materials, and fire prevention techniques. o Ability to perform strenuous work for prolonged periods of time under conditions of extreme height, intense heat or cold, noise, smoke, or obscured vision during fire fighting, rescue, hazardous materials, medical response, and training. o Ability to act effectively in emergency and stressful situations. o Ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions. o Effective written and oral communication skills. o Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the general public. o Must be able to pass a medical exam and the District physical ability test. | Categories: EMT, Firefighter
