The Syosset Fire Department (SFD) was organized in 1915 by local residents to help protect their community from the potential ravages of fire. A century later, we are still proud volunteers who provide a professional level of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to our neighbors in the Syosset Fire District. Work in a small group during the week on various tasks such as cutting vines, digging out roots, weed whacking, pulling weeds, installing deer fencing, and planting natives. The jobs vary depending on the time of year, but the job satisfaction is consistently high! Volunteering takes place in the morning for 2 to 3 hours.

Be responsible for maintaining one of our pollinator gardens. We will teach you what plants need to be pulled and how to identify the native plants. You will need to complete a one-hour training session. Once trained, you can work on your own schedule.
