Policy Overview   The purpose of this policy is to identify who is eligible for membership in the Lake Hiawatha Fire Department and to describe the application and investigation process. In order to maintain high level of competency and proud traditions, the department must ensure that its new members meet or exceed our standards. Furthermore, it must be recognized that its not everyone, in fact most people, cannot endure the physical and mental challenges of firefighting. Join the United Way's Tax Prep Team to provide free, IRS-certified tax preparation services for ALICE households. Volunteers will receive training to become certified tax preparers and help families navigate tax season.

Participate in a nationwide day of service every June 21st, joining others across the country in various community service activities. Volunteers will engage in projects that benefit local communities and promote positive change.

Volunteers are essential to the rescue's mission of saving abandoned and homeless animals. Responsibilities include assisting with animal care, helping at adoption events, and supporting administrative tasks. Volunteers must complete an application process.

Assist in organizing and running community events such as Walktoberfest and the Annual Awards Gala. Volunteers will help with event setup, registration, and guest assistance.
