Henderson County Fire Department
Seeking individuals 18 years of age and older interested in serving their community by volunteering, without compensation, their time to become trained to suppress fires, help with fundraising activities to financially support the fire station, and assist with fire safety and prevention activities. The department also has a junior firefighter program which encourages individuals 15 to 17 years of age to become interested in the fire service. The program allows juniors to participate in most department functions to include training and response to emergency calls for service. | Requirements: The department provides all training and equipment necessary at no cost to the firefighter. All new recruit firefighters are required to compete the following training within their first year of membership: 16 Introduction to the Fire Service Course, 64 Hour Basic Firefighting Course, 8 hours Live Fire Training, and a 8 hour Emergency Vehicle Operators Course consisting of classroom instruction and practical driving exam. Firefighters are also required to participate in the department's on-going training program that requires each firefighter to attend (two) 2 hour training sessions per month.
