Mosquito Fire Protection District
The Mosquito Fire Protection District is looking to expand our team to include a variety of community members interested in responding to and assisting in emergency situations. We recognize and understand while not everyone might be interested in going inside during buildings, that others may wish to assist with medical responses. We are currently recruiting for emergency response volunteers to serve and support the following roles and positions on a volunteer basis: - Firefighter - EMT - Emergency Responder - Incident Support - Public Education - Firehouse Maintenance - Office Administration We encourage all those interested to apply. The Mosquito Fire Protection District is seeking active/community minded individuals who are interested in serving in the fire serve as emergency responders. We are looking to staff 5 positions which are currently available. We currently offer two types of response roles. Those that live locally are able to respond to the station from their home when incidents occur. All others are welcome to work 12 and 24 hour shifts. We at MFPD are looking to build and expand our fire family and would invite you to apply for a position on our team. The primary focus of the Resident Firefighter shall be to obtain on-the-job training to better prepare themselves for a career in the fire service. Under general supervision of a Fire Captain, the Resident Firefighter trains in the general duties and responsibilities of a Firefighter, participates in regular training, drills and study activities; participates in fire prevention activities; assists in the maintenance of fire stations, apparatus, and equipment; responds to alarms, rescue and other emergency calls, assists in protecting life and property endangered by fire or other hazards, administers emergency medical care; participates in scheduled public relations activities and performs other duties as assigned. The Resident Firefighter classification is a volunteer position. There is no salary or hourly compensation. The Resident Firefighter will receive a volunteer stipend of $50.00 for each 24-hour shift that is worked. | Requirements: Age: • Must be at least 18 years of age by the date of appointment Education: • High school graduate or equivalent (GED) License and Driving Record: • Must possess a valid California State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License by the date of appointment • Clean DMV record with no major violations for 36 months and no more than one minor violation during the last 12 months Special Requirements: • Must be continually enrolled in at least one Fire Science or EMS related class at an accredited college, university, or other pre-approved courses. • Resident Firefighters must work a minimum of 3 (three), 24-hour shifts per month with their assigned officer/shift Physical: • Must be in excellent physical condition having passed the California Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) or internal district CPAT within the twelve months prior to appointment. Must also pass a district provided medical exam and drug screening Certifications: • Must maintain a current CPR provider card • Must successfully complete experience component of Firefighter-I Certification within eighteen (18) months of appointment. • Must possess a valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate within two years of appointment.
