Volunteer your time to support our mission by helping at our annual fundraising events. We need help on the day of the event, as well as organizing before the date. Current events include the Miles of Hope Community Walk for Breast Cancer and the Miles of Hope Spring Brunch.

Assist with data collection and monitoring of wildlife, pollinators, and plant populations around the Hudson Valley. Opportunities include eel monitoring, deer exclosure monitoring, pollinator surveys, bird surveys, plant surveys, and invasive species surveys.

Join our field staff as they undertake their regular work to keep our parks shipshape and ready for visitors. Tasks include clearing debris, lopping branches, bench cutting, drainage maintenance, and marking trails.

Be the 'eyes and ears' of one of our parks, providing information to visitors and alerting us about trail conditions and potential hazards. Join staff and other volunteers in tasks such as building trail bridges, replacing invasive plant species with native varieties, and managing invasive insects.

Assist with various arts and cultural programs, events, and administrative tasks. Volunteers support the organization in promoting and enhancing arts in the community.

Assist in organizing and managing events that help raise awareness and generate resources for child care services. Volunteers will help with event setup, guest assistance, and post-event activities.

Assist in providing support to child care providers by helping with administrative tasks, organizing training sessions, and distributing educational materials. Volunteers will also help in maintaining the online lending library and coordinating professional development events.

Assist with regular farm operations and the farm stand, which gives away free food once a week from June through October. Activities include weeding, planting, harvesting, and general upkeep of the Pershing Ave. Park & Neighborhood Farm in Poughkeepsie.

Volunteers will assist with research on the history of slavery and antislavery in the Mid-Hudson Valley and participate in community outreach programs to educate the public. Volunteers will also help in organizing public programs and events.

Volunteers will engage in the Oh, Freedom! Quilting Project, assisting with the creation of commemorative history quilts and participating in make-and-take projects. This role involves working with community members and promoting the project's educational aspects.

Join our Director of Horticulture and Interpretation for regular volunteer gardening hours on Tuesday and Saturday mornings from April through November. Volunteers help with various gardening tasks and can also assist in growing plants for our sale collection in the historic FDR greenhouses, with no prior experience required.

Help welcome and inspire visitors as a Garden Interpreter by sharing the story and beauty of the garden. Volunteers will answer questions, provide context, and help visitors feel at home in the garden.

Volunteers are needed to assist with various programs and services, including community education, outreach, and supporting survivors of domestic violence. Volunteers must attend a 20-hour Introduction to Domestic Violence training.

Short-term volunteer opportunities are available for groups interested in yard work or special projects. These projects help maintain and improve the facilities used by Grace Smith House.

Assist with the planning and execution of various events hosted by Community Action Partnership for Dutchess County. Duties may include setup, registration, guest assistance, and cleanup.
