Burnsville Fire and Rescue is a fire department where its members are dedicated to serving their community and the people in it. We are a small rural fire department that has become one of the best in this county as far as service that we provide to our community. We provide Firefighting, Rescue, Paramedic level ambulance, Swift water rescue, Wild land firefighting, just to name a few. We also have the biggest JR firefighter program in the county in which we are very proud. If you have what it takes to be a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT please come to the department on the first Tuesday of every month and see for your self. See us on Facebook!!! | Requirements: Persons that want to join and become a firefighter/EMT has to join the department by coming to three consecutive business meetings and on the third meeting we will vote as a fire department. JR Firefighters should be within the ages of 14-17. Adult members are 18 and up as long as they are within good physical shape. Members are required per our department by-laws that within 1 year all new members must be either certified or in a Firefighter/EMT certification class. The Volunteer Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (Volunteer FF/EMT) serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. The Volunteer FF/EMT normally works under the supervision of a company officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. They are also expected to perform their duties under adverse conditions and physical conditions that may pose a high risk of personal injury or exposure to hazardous conditions or infectious diseases. | Requirements: The Volunteer FF/EMT is required to attend regularly scheduled training in order to maintain the high level of knowledge, skill and ability necessary to function safely and effectively as a firefighter and EMS provider in accordance with state law, county protocols, and standard operating procedures.
