Do you want to give back to the community? We could use your help! We are growing our ranks of EMTs and EMS First Responders. We are looking to add more EMTs and EMRs to our roster so that we can get more people on calls and have better coverage for the ambulances. Qualified volunteers cover the ambulance shifts Monday-Friday nights 7 pm - 7 am and on weekends. We also need people available to cover a second ambulance when the primary ambulance is committed to a call. All training is provided and you won’t be asked to do anything that you are not qualified to do. EMS First Responder and EMT training will be provided. EMS Training is held on the 4th Wednesday evening from 6 pm – 8 pm of each month. Late summer and early fall trainings are suspended during harvest. Emergency calls can last anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. Ambulance shifts are 12 hours and you must be within a 5 minute response distance to the station when on shift. Garfield County Fire District #1
Garfield County Fire District 1 is in need of volunteers to work in non-emergency roles. If you are wanting to give back to your community and help the fire department, but don’t want to be a responder, we could use your help. GCFD1 is in need of volunteers to work on a wide range of non-emergency related activities. Some of these activities include: helping in the office with administrative activities; working with on-duty staff to complete rig checks and maintenance; cleaning the office, training room, apparatus bays, etc.; yard work and outdoor maintenance; building or setting up props for trainings; and other miscellaneous activities where we could just use an extra set of hands. Being a non-emergency volunteer has very flexible hours. You can volunteer routinely or as we need help, the choice is yours. No training is required, but we will give clear directions on whatever you will be working on. While the emergency responders may get all the ‘glory’, it is our non-emergency volunteers working in the background that keeps this place going. Call or stop by the station and we’ll be happy to answer all your questions. | Requirements: Willingness to help the fire department | Categories: Department Support
