The Poynette Dekorra Fire Protection District provide fire and EMS services for a 50-square-mile service area that includes 3 municipalities serving more than 5,500 people. We are a rural community located approximately 30 miles northeast of the capital city of Madison, in Columbia County, in south-central Wisconsin. Within the district are the major national and state transportation corridors of I-90/94-39, US 51, and the Canadian Pacific Railroad lines. The Poynette rest areas are the only rest areas in U.S. located on three concurrent Interstate Highways and are the most used in the state. Our department provides emergency coverage to the Village of Oxford and the Town's of Jackson and Oxford. Some of the services we provide include both Structure and Wildland fire suppression, various rescue duty's including using the jaws of life and Search & Rescue.
