The West Rutland Fire Department has been providing emergency services to the Town of West Rutland since 1891. Our Department provides fire protection, hazardous materials response, and rescue services to the residents and visitors of West Rutland and our surrounding communities through mutual aid. We are staffed with approximately 20 volunteer/call firefighters who are on call and respond when an emergency occurs. The West Rutland Fire Department is well-equipped with a fleet of 6 on-road vehicles and 1 off-road vehicle, a full compliment of modern firefighting and rescue equipment, and dedicated Firefighters who pride themselves in their skills and community service. We are housed in a modern fire station and meet regularly to further our training. The Department answers approximately 100 emergency calls for service each year. We are currently looking for a couple of people to join the Proctor Volunteer Fire Dept. The role would be as a Vermont State Certified firefighter, We will send you to the fire academy for your training. We also meet at the fire station monthly to provide training and work on Maintenace of the equipment. We meet on the first, second and third Monday of the month at 6pm. We typically respond to about 50 calls for service every year and they vary in nature. The Pittsford Fire Department has been proudly serving the citizens of Pittsford and Florence with Pride, Professionalism and Dedication since 1948. We currently respond out of 2 stations utilizing 8 pieces of apparatus which include 3 Engines, 1 Ladder Truck, 1 Tanker, 1 Medium Duty Rescue, 1 Wildland/Brush Truck, and 1 Off-Road Utility Vehicle. The Pittsford Fire Department has an initial response area of approximately 45 square miles protecting roughly 3000 residents of Pittsford and Florence. The Pittsford Fire Department is also part of the Rutland County Fire Mutual Aid Association in which we provide mutual aid response to those departments in the county that request it, and when that comes into play, our secondary response area increases to nearly 300 square miles with a population of nearly 56,000. The Dorset Fire Department is in search of community driven individuals who want to assist in emergency response to incidents within Dorset VT and surrounding mutual aid towns. No prior experience is necessary! Members will respond to emergency calls including but not limited to: automated smoke/CO alarm activations, motor vehicle collisions, residential and commercial structural fires, search and rescue, woodland fires, and EMS assists. All required training can be provided free of charge to motivated individuals through the department, and the Vermont Fire Academy. There are opportunities for interior, (SCBA certified), and exterior, (scene support), firefighting roles, as well as driver/operators for fire apparatus. The Dorset Fire Department is not currently an EMS or medical first response agency and only responds to medical calls when requested for assistance by the primary responding EMS agency. There are also opportunities for volunteers to take part in fundraising, clerical work, and community relations. Contact us if you would like to volunteer with us in any capacity, and we'll find the best way for you to help us help your community! Members will receive a pager and access to computer aided dispatching software, (CAD), and upon receiving an emergency call respond to the station to formulate a response. The department operates multiple state of the art fire apparatus including an Engine Tanker Apparatus (ETA), Engine-Rescue (ER), and a "Fast Attack" Mini Pumper. Additionally the department employs a 6x6 side by side, specially outfitted for wildland firefighting and search and rescue. Trainings and meetings are held every Tuesday at 18:00, with additional training opportunities offered throughout the year. | Requirements: No prior firefighting or EMS experience necessary! All applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check, and be over the age of 18. Residency or employment within the Dorset area preferred! Members ages 16-18 may apply as junior firefighters to get valuable experience learning about the fire service, but may be limited in the types of calls they can respond to in order to ensure their safety.
