Quilcene Fire Rescue is currently accepting applications and seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Resident Volunteer Firefighters/EMT’s. The Resident Volunteer will be assigned to a rotating shift of 48 hours on duty and 96 hours off. During the assigned shift the Resident Volunteer will respond to calls for service, train or drill daily on fire and emergency medical techniques and practices, maintain the fire vehicles and equipment, and assist with daily fire station duties. The Resident Volunteer will also be required to attend weekly drills whether on duty or not. The Fire District will supply the Resident Volunteer with living quarters while on duty consisting of a single story home to be shared with other on duty members. Resident Volunteer Fire Fighter/EMT’s are given a stipend for each 24 hour shift they work of $90.00, and up to $3,000.00 per year fire or EMS tuition reimbursement, per call stipend at the volunteer rate, private sleeping quarters and common living area. Quilcene Fire Rescue will also provide uniforms and any personal protective equipment needed. The purpose of this program is two-fold. 1. To provide continuous 24/7 emergency responders on duty to respond to calls for service in Quilcene and to assist any of our mutual aid partners as needed. 2. Volunteers are needed to assist with various tasks during concert events, such as greeting patrons, managing check-in tables, serving refreshments, and helping with mobility and access issues. Volunteers should arrive by 12:00 p.m. for concerts starting at 2:00 p.m.

Capture moments from performances and events to share on social media platforms. Volunteers will also assist in managing the orchestra's social media presence.

Manage the refreshment table during performances, ensuring that refreshments are available and presented well. Volunteers will also handle donations at the table.

Assist with setting up and breaking down the stage before and after performances. This includes arranging chairs, music stands, and other necessary equipment.

Provide technical support for sound and lighting during performances. Volunteers will ensure that audio and visual elements are executed smoothly.

Assist in guiding guests to their seats and ensuring a smooth entry and exit during performances. Volunteers will help maintain order and provide assistance as needed to attendees.

Help plan, organize, and recruit leaders for monthly field trips, or lead a field trip to your favorite birding area. Engage the community in bird watching and environmental appreciation.

Assist in selecting speakers and programs for monthly hybrid general membership meetings. Enhance the educational offerings of the Kitsap Audubon Society.

Write articles for the Kitsap Audubon Society's monthly newsletter, The Kingfisher. Share news, stories, and insights related to bird conservation and environmental topics.

Join work parties in local parks for habitat restoration, trail maintenance, and invasive plant removal. Help maintain and improve local natural areas.

Help Kitsap Audubon reach out to families and children by staffing tables at events, giving presentations, and developing educational materials. Engage the community in bird conservation and environmental education.

Participate in conservation and community science projects such as bird monitoring and surveying. Members can focus on specific projects or contribute to general conservation efforts.

Serve as a board member or trustee to support the foundation's mission. Responsibilities include collecting grant stories, supporting annual fundraising activities, and participating in board meetings.

Participate in seasonal and ongoing citizen science projects such as Climate Watch, Pigeon Guillemot surveys, and the Christmas Bird Count. Contribute to important environmental data collection.

Work to make Kitsap Audubon and birding accessible and welcoming to all. Help promote inclusivity within the organization and the broader birding community.

Review applicants and select recipients for Kitsap Audubon’s annual scholarship awards. Support students pursuing academic degrees in fields that align with the organization's mission.

Coordinate the collection and distribution of donated technology items such as cell phones and laptops for educational purposes. Volunteers will manage inventory and ensure items meet donation criteria.

Assist in packaging meals for children in need across various countries. Volunteers will help organize, pack, and prepare meals for distribution.

Volunteers capture photos and videos of training classes, ideally with experience in photo and video editing. This role supports KARE's marketing and educational efforts.
