Assist in matching veterans with companion animals by collaborating with rescue organizations in the West Michigan Area. Volunteers will help ensure the best fit for both the veteran and the animal.

Support Lori's Voice by assisting with fundraising events such as golf outings and dances. Volunteers will help with event logistics, participant registration, and providing information to attendees.

Participate in the Citizen Science Project by taking landscape photos at the Chronolog station to help chart the progress of Chrishaven Lake. Volunteers will contribute to creating a time-lapse video documenting environmental changes.

Assist in maintaining and improving the trail systems at Howard Christensen Nature Center. Volunteers will help clear paths, manage vegetation, and ensure trails are safe and accessible for visitors.

Support the operations of the Interpretive Center by providing information to visitors, assisting with educational programs, and helping with administrative tasks.

Assist in maintaining the Musketawa Trail by participating in clean-up activities, repairing trail sections, and ensuring the trail is safe for all users. Volunteers will work under the guidance of experienced trail coordinators.

The Firefighter serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of the Newaygo Fire Department and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. The FF normally works under the supervision of a company officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. They are also expected to perform their duties under adverse conditions and physical conditions that may pose a high risk of personal injury or exposure to hazardous conditions or infectious diseases. The FF is required to attend regularly scheduled training in order to maintain the high level of knowledge, skill and ability necessary to function safely and effectively as a firefighter in accordance with state law, county protocols, and standard operating procedures. The work performance of a FF is continuously evaluated for general knowledge, skill proficiency, and ability to work as part of a team. Any deficiencies are corrected through remedial training.
