Through their projects, members experience character development and improve their critical and creative thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.

HelpLine Specialists provide support and resources to individuals seeking help for mental health concerns. Volunteers will be trained to answer calls and emails, requiring a commitment of at least 1 year and 4 shifts per month.

Support Group Facilitators lead peer-led support groups for individuals living with mental health conditions or their family members. Facilitators must have personal experience with mental health issues and complete a 2-day NAMI training course in Virginia.

Community Outreach Team volunteers represent NAMI Northern Virginia at various events, sharing information about mental health resources. Volunteers should be comfortable engaging with the public and have a general knowledge of mental health conditions.

Class Facilitators teach NAMI educational programs such as Family-to-Family and Peer-to-Peer, which help individuals understand mental health conditions and recovery. Facilitators must have personal experience and complete required NAMI training.

Social Media Assistants help create and share posts for the Shepherd's Center of Northern Virginia. This role involves working on marketing campaigns and requires 1-2 hours a week remotely.

Office Volunteers assist with processing phone calls, entering transportation requests, and providing information and referrals in the SC office. Shifts are available Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 1 PM or 1 PM to 4 PM.
