Rockton Fire Protection District is hiring Paid on Call and Part Time Firefighters and EMT's to serve our protection district in northern Illinois. With a steadily increasing annual emergency call volume our fire department has an ever growing need for personnel. No experience is necessary. New personnel who do not have Illinois Basic Operations Firefighter Certification will be required to participate in a fire academy to obtain certification. Company training is on Wednesday nights; all members are expected to participate. Volunteer firefighters with a department that responds to about 90 fire/rescue calls a year. Our ambulance service responds to approximately 600 calls a year. Fire and EMS are separate but you can be on either or both. Our primary ambulance is staffed with a full time paid crew consisting of a paramedic and EMT-Basic. These 6 people are employees of a private contracted service. Our backup ambulance is staffed by Fire District volunteer EMT-Basic personnel. We will provide training for the volunteer positions.
