We're looking for people who are interested in becoming volunteer firefighters. We provide training, good pay when deployed, and an opportunity to serve your community. As part of the mission of the California State Guard, volunteers respond to all manner of natural and man-made disasters. As the threat of wildland fire grows, the need for more firefighters has increased. The California State Guard has a unique opportunity for those who want to be part of the solution to this problem. Joint Task Force Rattlesnake specializes as Type I & Type II wildland fire handcrews ready to respond to any area of California when needed. While fire response is our primary mission, we are prepared to assist with any major disaster, natural or man-made that impacts the citizens of California. We will fight fire aggressively, providing for safety first. We will protect lives and property. We will not leave anyone behind. We encourage people with Fire, EMS or emergency management experience to apply, but welcome anyone physically fit and motivated to learn the craft of wildland firefighting. We have high training standards due to the work that we do, and people who join Joint Task Force Rattlesnake should be comfortable with complex fire deployments of up to 29 days. Members will get to experience the best of both worlds: Fire Service training and Military Training. We are seeking people who want to be Soldier Firefighters. All of our training is transferable to a career in Fire Service, EMS and Emergency Management. The real-world experience of being out on the fire line during some of California's largest fires is invaluable. The military leadership training one receives will help people be successful in any career and in any leadership role. While with Joint Task Force Rattlesnake you can expect to complete the NWCG Firefighter Type 2 certification (which includes L-180, S-190, S-130), the NWCG Firefighter 1 certification (which includes S-131, RT-130), as well as the NWCG Portable Pumps (S-211), and the NWCG Wildland Fire Chainsaws (S-212). Finally, for individuals who perform at the highest standard, there are a few offerings a year to complete the CAL FIRE 1C certification. | Requirements: Applicants must be 18 years or older, successfully pass a background check and physical exam, be a legal resident of the State of California and either a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident alien who has made legal declaration to become a citizen of the United States by filing Form N-300, Application to File Declaration of Intention with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). | Categories: Firefighter, EMT
