Organization Overview: Saxtons River First Response Rescue, Inc. is a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing top-tier volunteer first response care to the citizens of Saxtons River and its surrounding communities. Our team is driven by a mission to offer immediate and efficient medical assistance to those in need, ensuring the health and safety of our community. In addition to our first-response services, we actively engage in fundraising and grant writing efforts to support and expand our life-saving operations. Positions Available: We are currently seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our team in the following volunteer capacities: Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMT) Fundraising and Grant Writing Assistants Responsibilities: EMR, EMT, AEMT: Respond to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility when required. Perform assessments, provide emergency care, and administer life-saving interventions as needed. Work as part of a team with other emergency response professionals and healthcare providers. Participate in ongoing training and drills to ensure readiness and up-to-date knowledge of medical procedures and equipment. Fundraising and Grant Writing Assistants:Assist in the development and execution of fundraising strategies to support the organization's operations and growth. Research, identify, and apply for grants applicable to the funding needs of first-response services.Organize and participate in community fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives. Collaborate with team members to promote the organization's mission and increase public engagement. Qualifications:Certification as an EMR, EMT, or AEMT (as applicable for medical response roles). Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or a strong willingness to learn (for fundraising and grant writing assistants). Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.Ability to remain calm and efficient in high-pressure situations. Volunteer with your dog as part of a therapy dog team to visit nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and libraries. Volunteers must file an application, complete a formal evaluation, and participate in supervised visits.

Assist with various tasks during theater productions, including taking tickets, helping with concessions, operating lights and sound equipment, stage management, and even directing plays. Volunteers can start with small tasks and gradually take on more responsibilities.

Volunteers can assist in various activities such as weeding the gardens, organizing the plant nursery, transplanting seedlings, building more trails, leaf blowing and raking the trails, and installing deer cages around native plants in the woods. Volunteers also help in building or repairing play area elements and weeding the pollinator meadow.

Program Volunteers play a fundamental role in conducting safe horsemanship lessons and creating a safe environment for individuals to thrive. Horse experience is not required; Freedom Reins will provide the training.

We are seeking people to join our Paid On-Call Department serving as a firefighter and/or an EMS provider. Assist with maintaining and expanding the hiking trails along the Windmill Hill Ridgeline. Volunteers will help with trail work, including clearing paths and ensuring trails are safe for visitors.

Help control invasive species in the conserved lands by identifying and removing non-native plants. Volunteers will work to preserve the native ecosystem and biodiversity of the area.

Support the Putney Mountain Association by assisting with fundraising efforts and administrative tasks. Volunteers will help organize events and manage records to support the organization's mission.

Support the mission of the Forest for Learning by joining our volunteer database. Volunteers will be contacted when opportunities arise to assist with various tasks related to forest ecology, stewardship, and sustainability education.

Join the dedicated team of over 60 volunteers at the Putney Foodshelf to assist in the day-to-day operations of providing supplemental healthy food to those in need. Volunteers are essential to maintaining the community spirit and ensuring the smooth operation of the foodshelf.

Join the team responsible for maintaining Pierce Island, ensuring paths are safe and signage is in good condition. This role is vital for preserving the island's natural beauty and accessibility.

Help monitor the water quality of Spofford Lake by collecting samples at various locations. Volunteers work in teams and receive training to ensure accurate data collection.

Join the Lake Host team to welcome visitors and inspect boats for invasive species. This role is crucial in preventing unwanted intruders from entering the lake. Scheduling is flexible, and training will be provided.

Participate in the Weed Watch program by monitoring designated areas for invasive aquatic species. Volunteers will receive training to identify harmful species and will conduct tours during summer months.
