Here at Delanson Fire company we understand a busy life. Family, work, and time to put everything together can be hectic, but have you ever thought about becoming a firefighter or EMT? We are looking for people who want to help there community and have fun doing it. Whether its helping fight a fire or helping a child who hurt themselves at the local soccer game we are there and you can be too. It's fun, rewarding and best of all, its helping your neighbors. You don't need to live in the Village of Delanson to join and you decide how much time you want to put in. It could be a couple of hours a month or it could be every call. Even if you have questions you can stop by and ask. | Requirements: YOU! All that is required is you! When an emergency happens and the calls go out somebody comes to help. Without volunteers then help will not come. We need people like you. All training will be provided. Ages 12-17 for junior membership and ages 18-70 for active membership. You can come in and learn and train on what you need to know to become a firefighter. Established in 1816, the Eagle-Matt Lee Volunteer Fire Company is a provider of emergency services in upstate New York — protecting residents and businesses in the Village of Ballston Spa, Town of Ballston, and the Town of Milton. We also participate in mutual aid agreements with neighboring departments. We're seeking energetic and motivated volunteers to join our team of firefighting professionals.<br><br> The department supplies and pays for all required gear and training and will also pay for any and all extra department-related training that you wish to pursue.<br><br> For more information including time requirements, please contact Lt. Bill Purcell. | Requirements: Firefighters (Age 18+)<br> New Firefighters Must Complete One of the Following Within 1 Year of acceptance into membership:<br> A: NYS Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations (45 Hour Course)<br> B: NYS Firefighter 1 Course (104 Hour Course)<br><br> All Active Firefighters must attend at least 12 regularly scheduled or special drills (Training) during the year. OSHA training drills are mandatory and must be made up if missed. Each session lasts approximately 3 hours. Regular drills are scheduled on every Monday except holidays and meeting nights(First Monday evening of the month). Extra training sessions are scheduled as needed. Different nights can be accommodated for a member.<br><br> Junior Firefighter (Age 16-18)<br><br> The Ballston Spa Fire Department Junior Firefighter Program provides young men and women, ages 16 and 17, the opportunity to learn about the skill of firefighting. These firefighters are mentored by adult advisers from the ranks of the Ballston Spa Fire Department. They drill on Wednesday nights in the same manner as those over 18. They are provided with turnout gear, attend NYS training classes, respond to calls, and help with events in and around the firehouses.
