The Secaucus Fire Department is always looking for male or female volunteers. You must be 16 years of age and a resident of Secaucus to join the Fire Department. Anyone interested can fill out the online form below to contact a member of the recruitment committee. Anyone interested may also stop by any firehouse on Sunday mornings from January through May or Monday evenings from June through September. However down the road, all members of the Secaucus Fire Department must attend a State Certified Fire Academy and complete the Firefighter I Course. All active members of the department also attend continuing education courses, including Firefighting Safety, Firefighter II, CPR, and the Incident Command System (ICS). As a Community Volunteer, you will assist with events, outreach, and administrative tasks to support our mission of helping older adults living with dementia. Your time and skills will make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and caregivers in our community.

As a mentor, you will guide and support students in our leadership development program, sharing your experiences and best practices to help them grow. This role involves engaging with students across various cultural and professional backgrounds.

Help assemble packets of pens, paper, cards, envelopes, stamps, and calling cards that meet the rules of the detention centers. Volunteers can organize events with their organizations to contribute to this effort.

If you can’t visit a detainee at the detention centers, you can reduce their isolation by writing to them regularly. Volunteers who can correspond in Spanish are especially needed.

By visiting detainees at the jails or detention centers, you can provide much-needed contact with the outside world, emotional support, and a path to other services. Volunteers who speak fluent Spanish are especially needed.

Assist in planning and executing fundraising events to support the theater's productions and programs. Volunteers will work closely with the fundraising team to develop strategies and engage with potential donors.

Help design and create costumes for theater productions. Volunteers will collaborate with the costume department to ensure all costumes meet the production's needs.

Assist with front-of-house operations during performances, including ticketing, ushering, and providing information to patrons. Volunteers ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for all attendees.

Support the organization in identifying and applying for grants. Volunteers will research potential funding opportunities and assist in writing grant proposals.

Lead the musical aspects of a production, including working with singers and musicians. Volunteers should have experience in music direction and a strong understanding of musical theater.

Support the marketing team in promoting upcoming productions and events. Responsibilities include creating marketing materials, managing social media accounts, and engaging with the community to increase awareness.

Join the stage crew to assist with set design and construction for various productions. Volunteers will work with the production team to build and manage stage elements.

Create and teach choreography for theater productions. Volunteers will work with the cast to develop dance routines that enhance the storytelling of the production.

Direct a theater production, working closely with actors and production staff to bring a script to life. Volunteers should have experience in directing and a passion for theater.

Volunteers will assist in the restoration and maintenance of the historic Speer Cemetery. Responsibilities include clearing debris, maintaining the landscape, and helping with historical research to identify those buried at the site.

Assist weekly in winter Boat Building. No experience or special skills are necessary. December-March, Mon. - Thurs., 4-7pm.

Help us organize raffles, sell tickets, and run fundraising events. Participate in various community events in Chelsea and Inwood throughout the season.

In the off-season, educate and inspire Sail Academy students by teaching them about your career during special Career Weeks.

Help get students on the water. Experienced Member Skippers can become Volunteer Skippers. October-November, April-May, Mon. -Thurs., 3:30-6:30pm and special events.
