Seeking volunteer firefighter providing first response to emergencies in the Shelburne Fire District in MA. We provide fire, rescue and emergency medical first response to our citizens. Added opportunities in public fire safety education, incident support, and EMT/EMS care exist based on interest, abilities and certifications. Volunteers are welcomed to support the Nolumbeka Project's work and events, which include annual gatherings and educational events featuring Indigenous presenters. Responsibilities may include event setup, coordination, and assisting attendees.

Lead and support Silverthorne Theater Company's fundraising and development efforts. This role involves strategic planning and financial management.

Support show preparation with tasks like load-in, set preparation, backstage assistance, and costuming support. Volunteers play a crucial role in the smooth running of performances.

Help with social media, distribute publicity materials, and represent Silverthorne Theater Company at public events and civic gatherings such as Farmer’s Markets and fairs.

Assist in managing the house during performances, including roles such as House Manager, Usher, Elevator Operator, and Box Office Assistant. Training is provided for all positions.

Read and assess a range of scripts to recommend plays for Silverthorne’s MainStage seasons and Theatre Thursdays Play Reading Series. This role involves critical evaluation and decision-making.

Participate in the University Volunteer Program to promote mental health and well-being on campus. Volunteers will raise awareness, organize events, and collaborate with campus leaders to prioritize mental health, breaking down stigmas and encouraging open conversations.

Join the One Life Project as a volunteer to promote mental health advocacy and education. Volunteers will engage in initiatives that foster understanding, break down stigmas, and promote mental well-being through education, advocacy, and support.

Volunteer as a blog writer for the One Life Project to create educational content that inspires and supports the community. Writers will contribute to mental health awareness by sharing personal experiences and insights into mental health, well-being, and self-care.

Volunteering for the Sunderland Fire Department will include various tasks and training that all revolve around the core idea of preserving life and property in the Town of Sunderland. As a Volunteer Firefighter you will be trained how to safely operate en-route to and on the scene of an emergency. Firefighting tasks include but are not limited to: combating, extinguishing and preventing fires of all types, responding to motor vehicle accidents, HAZMAT responses, etc. Members may also be driving and operating fire apparatus, using power tools including the jaws of life, and learning fire-ground operating procedures which include strategy and tactics as well as various safety techniques. All fire department members must also become certified as a Massachusetts First Responder and have received training in CPR within 12 months of hire. All minimum required training for this position is provided in-house. Members meet each Tuesday, and train on average 3 nights per month. All applicants must meet with the Fire Chief for an interview before filling out the application. New members are sworn in as Probationary Members, giving them roughly a year to settle in. This program is designed for members of police, sheriff, and fire departments to mentor a young person, fostering positive relationships and community engagement.

Share your love of sports with a young person as a spectator or participant. This opportunity allows you to engage in sports activities with a youth.

Spend time with a youth doing activities you both enjoy in the community. This role requires a commitment of 2-4 hours a month for at least one year.

Assist with the inventory of new and old book acquisitions in the VCP library and bookshop.
