The Oriskany Fire Dept. is in need of Interior Firefighters and EMT's. We will find a job for anyone that wishes to join! Interior Firefighters must be physically fit, pass an annual physical and mask fit test, attend regularly schedule training and meetings, and complete annual recertification's. EMT's must have a strong stomach and mental fortitude to assist with hands on patient care for various injuries, accidents, and illnesses. You must be able to pass a 6 month long training class for licensing which includes ambulance ride time, ER triage, and in-house regularly scheduled training. Other positions available are Drivers/Pump Operators (non-class D license), fundraising assistants to sell tickets and host events, Public Education Specialists who perform various fire prevention and emergency procedure training for kids and adults, committee heads responsible for preparing budgets, scheduling events, and recruiting participation. Please help us to continue helping YOU! | Requirements: Interior Firefighters are requires to attend a 120 hour initial training to Firefighter I level. You must pass an annual physical and mask test, attend regularly scheduled training, and able to lift 50lbs and drag 100lbs. EMT's must pass a basic course of 160 hours that include ambulance ride time, ER triage hours, and regularly scheduled in house training and State required refresher. Driver/Pump Operators must have drivers license and a good mechanical aptitude. General Firefighters perform various exterior operations such as establishing water supply sites, equipment and station maintenance, and general minor operations outside of structural firefighting. ALL must be willing to attend required trainings, meetings, and respond to the alarm 24/7 when available.
