Worcester County Food Bank is currently accepting applications for long-term, committed individual volunteers. Volunteers will assist with various tasks to support food distribution efforts and must be able to commit to ongoing service.

As a companionship volunteer, you will provide vital support by visiting patients, reading to them, or simply being there to listen. Your presence can offer comfort and respite to caregivers during challenging times.

High school students can participate in various activities including companionship visits and office work. This program allows students to fulfill community service requirements while gaining valuable experience.

Administrative volunteers assist staff with clerical tasks such as typing, organizing newsletters, and managing office duties. This role supports the operational side of hospice care, ensuring that the team can focus on patient care.

As a Building & Grounds Assistant, volunteers help maintain gardens, sweep and mop areas in and around the museum, and adopt a trail to keep walking paths free of trash and debris. Volunteers must complete at least one four-hour shift per week and be at least 16 years old.

Education Program Volunteers engage visitors through conversations and hands-on activities, helping them connect with exhibits and encouraging scientific inquiry. Volunteers must complete at least one four-hour shift per week and be at least 16 years old.

Community Engagement Volunteers assist with on-site events and community festivals, helping with setup, takedown, and promoting the EcoTarium. Volunteers must complete at least one four-hour shift per week and be at least 16 years old.

Collections Volunteers assist in inventorying the historic natural history collection, photographing specimens, and entering data to publish photographs of various items. Volunteers must complete at least one four-hour shift per week and be at least 16 years old.

Volunteers are needed year-round at the Wall Street Food Pantry to help stock, move, bag food, and clean. During Thanksgiving week, five volunteers per day are required for special holiday food distribution. Additionally, volunteers can assist with toy distribution for the Christmas Party and general organizing of formula and diapers.

Program volunteers are needed to tutor, run activities, and provide homework help to teens in the afternoons and early evenings, as well as assist with after-school program activities for elementary-aged children and holiday events. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and will need to complete background checks prior to volunteering.

Meals On Wheels Volunteer Drivers deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors in their community. This opportunity involves delivering meals and checking on the consumer to ensure their safety, with deliveries occurring Monday – Friday between 10:00am – 2:00pm.

Dining Center Kitchen Volunteers assist with serving nutritious meals at one of the 21 Dining Centers. Volunteers may also assist with packing Meals on Wheels for delivery, helping to create a social environment for consumers who gather to enjoy meals together.

Elder Services Money Management Program Volunteers assist elders once each month with bill paying, checkbook reconciliations, sorting and reading mail for clients, as well as mailing monthly bills. Volunteers visit their client each month in the elder’s home for one or two hours.

Tech Connect Volunteers empower local older adults by providing education and support to help them navigate the digital world. Volunteers assist with setting up devices, teaching how to use apps, email, social media, and video calling.

Help fill boxes of food and distribute them to families in need. Volunteers will engage in packing food items and assisting with the distribution process, ensuring that families receive the support they need.

Join our team of volunteers to help serve 450-700 hot nutritious meals every weekday morning. Volunteers will assist in meal preparation, serving food, and cleaning up after meals to ensure a smooth operation of the soup kitchen.

Assist in cleaning up the dining room after meals, ensuring that the space is ready for the next day’s service. Responsibilities include sanitizing tables, picking up trash, and maintaining a clean environment.

Help make a difference in our town by encouraging and fostering the diverse artistic and cultural fabric of Northborough through the arts. Volunteers may assist in organizing events, supporting public art projects, and promoting local artists.
