Not only is the fire service rewarding in what you do on emergencies but you also build strong bonds with your fellow firefighters. The fire service has a very deeply rooted history of many traditions and values, one being brotherhood. This bond is stronger than no other. The people you hang out with at the firehouse, the team that you respond with on calls, begins to become a second family once you join and the firehouse becomes a home away from home. Whatever motivates you to volunteer, everyone gains self-satisfaction of being their best when other are dealing with what may be the worst times of their life. We train on many different types of emergencies ranging from structure fire, to heart attacks, to car accidents, to childbirths and any other imaginable emergency in between. Day or night we may have to use these skills, and very often under potentially stressful and emotional circumstances. Yet these are just some of the many factors that make this profession so personally rewarding.
