The Southport Fire Department is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the residents of Southport and Fairfield. Established in 1895 following a devastating fire in Southport, Connecticut, our dedicated volunteers have been faithfully serving the community for well over 100 years. We are seeking individuals who are interested in making a difference in their community. We are looking for volunteers to fill the positions of firefighters, EMT's and department support roles. Through leadership, dedication, integrity, professionalism, and education the Southport Fire Department strives to protect the lives and property of the residents and visitors of Southport, Fairfield and wherever else called upon to serve during times of need. The department accomplishes this mission by providing a vast range of emergency services, community relations and fire prevention education locally and answering the call to respond to any disaster or terrorist attack abroad. Become a cat caretaker at Petco locations in Westport and Norwalk. Responsibilities include feeding cats, cleaning their cubbies, and providing them with playtime. Training is provided and required in the form of an initial 45-minute orientation.

Assist with the TNR program by trapping feral cats for spaying/neutering and vaccination. Trapping occurs throughout Fairfield County, typically at night or on weekends. Training is provided.

Help transport cats to and from veterinary appointments and foster homes, and assist with housing cats during their post-surgery recovery period.

Foster cats or kittens to provide them with a safe, home environment while they await adoption. Fosters are supplied with food, litter, toys, and bedding as needed. Duration typically lasts a few weeks.

Educate riders and drivers on safe biking practices and laws. Conduct workshops and safety programs to promote awareness and understanding of biking safety.

Assist in building a community of people who desire safer and better biking and walking options in Westport. Engage with local residents and participate in events to promote the organization's mission.

General volunteers play a key role in organizing, running, and following up on educational events and private coaching. They support the community daily by advocating for causes they believe in.

Private-Planning Volunteers share their knowledge to give back to the community and reach personal and professional goals. Volunteers must have a minimum of five years of experience in their field to educate others.

Join Sustainable Westport's movement to promote sustainability in the community. Volunteers will engage in various activities to support environmental initiatives, including waste reduction and sustainable landscaping projects.

Volunteers are needed to provide temporary homes for dogs who need a home environment. This role involves caring for a dog in your own home, providing them with love and attention until they are adopted.

Volunteers are needed to walk and socialize with dogs at Westport Animal Control. This role involves providing exercise and companionship to the dogs, helping them to stay healthy and happy while they wait for their forever homes.

Volunteers assist with fundraising activities to support the care of homeless dogs. This role involves organizing and participating in fundraising events and campaigns to gather resources for the shelter.

Participate in various community service events organized by SASO Boys Fairfield. Volunteers are expected to attend events with their mothers and engage in activities that support local philanthropies.
