Owen Valley Fire Territory is a combination fire department comprised of volunteer, part-time, and career firefighters. We provide an array of Fire Suppression, EMS (non-transport), Technical Rescue, and Community Education in Spencer Indiana. We are always looking for individuals to join our growing team. Assist with locating and prepping tack, grooming horses as needed, and returning equipment to the proper location when the session is completed.

Greet volunteers, parents, guardians, and participants as they arrive, help direct them, and answer questions.

Ensure the horse is groomed and tacked appropriately, warm up the horse before sessions, lead and handle the horse to assist with a safe and enriching environment for horses, riders, and volunteers during sessions.

Provide support and security to the rider throughout the session, including encouraging the rider, demonstrating exercises, and assisting with social and motor skills.

Assist with setting up the arena and equipment, and ensure everything is cleaned and returned after sessions.

VBFD Fire Corps is the support team for the VBFD Firefighters. Do you have the desire to help others, but don't want to be a firefighter? Maybe the Fire Corp is for you. Fire corps members are activated on fires or any scene when personnel will be away from the station for an extended period of time. | Requirements: Must be at least 17 years of age, have a clean driving record and clean criminal history. Assist with regular care shifts at the rescue center, including feeding, cleaning, and socializing with cats. Volunteers are needed on a weekly basis to help maintain the well-being of the cats.

Join hikes in the Hoosier National Forest to pull garlic mustard and Japanese stiltgrass. Volunteers should be prepared for outdoor conditions and bring necessary supplies.

Assist with the annual Native Plant Sale by helping with setup, sales, and customer assistance. This event helps promote native plants and raise awareness about invasive species.

Help with monthly Weed Wrangles at the Canyon Forest Nature Preserve to manage invasive species. Attendance is limited, and registration is required.

Participate in Saturday Weed Wrangles to remove invasive species from local parks. Volunteers will learn about native habitats and contribute to their preservation.

Assist the JTB Publicity Committee by managing social media platforms, mailing lists, and publicizing upcoming productions or events. The role is flexible, requires minimal hours, and involves regular meetings with the Producing Artistic Director.

Assist with various production aspects such as technical work, costumes, props, auditions, ushering, and serving on the Board of Directors. Volunteers must be available for the entire season and be at least 16 years old.

Use your art skills to create signs and special displays throughout the store, and design new Boxcar Books buttons, stickers, and info sheets. This role supports the visual appeal and branding of Boxcar Books.

Choose a subject you are passionate about and commit to regularly shelf reading that section, ensuring books are in alphabetical order. This role helps maintain organization within the store and enhances the customer experience.

Volunteer shift workers staff the shop and handle day-to-day needs, supporting the efforts of local community groups and artists. Responsibilities include maintaining the shop, assisting with store upkeep, and participating in monthly volunteer meetings.
