All volunteers are welcome of any ability and time commitment. While we focus a lot of attention on our need for Firefighters and EMTs, we also need support personnel and admins. If you can donate just a couple of hours each month you can give back to your community in a big way. | Requirements: The minimum age is 16 and there is no maximum age. All volunteers must be able to pass a local background check. There is no minimum amount of time you need to volunteer or participate. Contribute to building and repairing handicap ramps during the spring and summer. Volunteers with skilled craft abilities are needed to ensure accessibility for those in need.

Assist in the operation of TCRM’s Food Pantry by helping to distribute food to those in need. Volunteers will help stock shelves, organize food items, and assist guests during their visits.

Assist in the operation of our emergency Food Pantry Program by helping with food distribution and organization. Volunteers will work to alleviate food insecurities within the community.

Participate in the annual Victory Garden Project by helping to plant, maintain, and harvest community gardens. Volunteers will work alongside community partners to support local food production.

Help staff the 211 Tompkins Cortland Community Services Center by responding to phone inquiries, online chats, walk-ins, and emails. Provide assessment, problem-solving, and information and referral services, and participate in quality assurance initiatives.

Civic Ensemble offers various volunteer opportunities throughout the year, allowing community members to support the organization in different capacities. Volunteers may assist with events, productions, or administrative tasks.

Assist in recruiting and coordinating volunteers for various roles within the organization. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

Assist in managing neighborhood food hubs, which serve as collection points for food donations. Volunteers should be organized and able to work independently.

Engage with the community to raise awareness about food rescue and the organization's mission. Volunteers should have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Work directly with recipient partners to ensure they receive the food donations they need. Volunteers should be organized and have good communication skills.

Capture photos of food rescue operations and events to help promote the organization's mission. Volunteers should have photography skills and their own equipment.

Help maintain the facilities used by the organization, ensuring they are clean and operational. Volunteers should have basic maintenance skills.

Volunteers are needed to assist with picking up food donations from local stores and farms, and sorting them for redistribution to hunger relief programs. Volunteers should be reliable and able to work independently.

Participate in gleaning activities to collect surplus produce from farms. Volunteers should be comfortable working outdoors and have an interest in agriculture.

Volunteers will help with making phone calls to coordinate food pickups and communicate with food donors and recipient partners. Strong communication skills are essential.

If writing is your passion, help is needed with social media, flyers, and other communication materials. This role supports the organization's outreach and engagement efforts.

Volunteers are needed to take laundry to the laundromat as needed. This support helps ensure that animals have clean bedding and supplies.
